book clubs

I’m now in two book clubs & I’m so excited! I love reading but I definitely get in routs and will stick with the same types of books or authors & not branch out.
I’ve really enjoyed the nestie girls book club~ it’s encouraged me to read novels I might not normally pick up. So far I’ve really enjoyed what we’ve chosen~ The Namesake & Water for Elephants. Our next novel is Middlesex. I’ve been warned that it’s a little slow at first, and I think I’m going to start it this weekend so we’ll see! Oh and the July book is Memory Keeper’s Daughter which I read last summer. I might need to reread it though because some of the parts & characters are a little fuzzy.
I had mentioned in our last couple Chi O alum meetings about starting a book club and at the most recent meeting there was a lot of interest. Today we sent out the email to start it! The first book chosen by the leader of the group is Plum Wine. I’ve never heard of it before, but it’s about an American teacher teaching English in Japan. I’ve requested it from the library. I’m so glad and I feel so blessed to have friends to intelligent discussions with about books.

10 Things That Make Me Happy

Althea P posted a list on her blog & I thought it was a great way to appreciate all the little things & blessings I have & enjoy.
1~ cuddling at night & waking up cuddling with Jason in the mornings
2~ Moe jumping on the loveseat to hang out with me.
3~ Noone yelling or cussing at me on the phone at work today.
4~ Discovering a new great lunch spot that had an AWESOME grilled chicken wrap.
5~ nesting at night
6~ breakfast for dinner & leftover waffles for breakfast
7~ reality TV (BigBrother9, Real World, Survivor, The Hills, American Idol, John & Kate+8, etc)
8~ pedicures (done myself or at a salon)
9~ open-toed shoes
10~ new Lilly Pulitzer top (found at TJ Maxx~thanks Brooke for the find!)

A Few Reception Pics

Thought I’d share some of my favorites from our reception.
Not sure how the photographer did this one but I think it’s cool of our first dance.Here’s another first dance picture.Shagging to “My Girl” with my Dad.I was so pleased how the favors turned out.
I love this one of us on the beach at sunset. I want to blow one of these pictures up to frame in our house.
We snook off while everyone else was eating dinner to dance to Keith Urban by ourselves.I asked for the place to have my favorite wine, but I was hot at first and asked for a beer and ended up drinking beer all night.My sorority sisters sang a song to me. It was really special because my mom, my aunt, and some of my mom’s friends who are all Chi Os were able to join in with my AK sisters.My Nana joined my mom & her friends dancing!Jason had fun dancing with his mom & her family.My Dad & I singing along with “Shout” before Jason & I cut our cake.We loved how our cake turned out. It looked awesome & was so yummy!

Wedding Pictures

On Thursday, we received 200 4×6 photos and a CD of all our digital pics. I’m so happy with them. Our photographer was Diane McKinney. We were waiting to get the CD to order our album from her. I know its going to be hard to choose just 80-100 pics to put in there. I thought I’d post a few of my favorites.
This one with my brother & cousin was taken before the ceremony.My cousin & his wife took a picture like this and I loved it. It was so fun & exciting to hold Jason’s hand knowing that the next time we held hands we’d be getting married!I was so giddy the whole ceremony. Here’s the first time we held hands. I whispered “hi”!I was so glad we were able to take pictures on the beach. It wasn’t too hot that day, but there was no breeze so flies kept biting our bridesmaids legs. They did a good job forcing smiles though!Ok that’s probably enough for now. I’ll post some of the reception later.
