Sick, party of four

We made it through the Christmas holiday {relatively} sickness free. After their colds & hand foot mouth & Lucy’s bout with pink eye 10 days before, we were feeling lucky to experience a fabulous first Christmas with just little baby colds & Lucy having chapped cheeks. {Christmas post with pics to come}

Then, on the 26th, Zach woke up with his left eye super goopy & stuck shut. His beautiful eye lashes were all matted. I scooped him up in the ergo & carried him close
as we shopped that afternoon. He seemed okay & tolerated eye compresses in the Loft & Crate & Barrel bathrooms. By Wednesday night, though, his eye was still bad & we felt like his little cold wasn’t great either.

Jason got up with me Thurs around 3a for Lucy’s night feeding feeling like he’d been hit by a truck. He’d caught the babies’ cold bad.

Lucy woke up Thurs morning with yellow gunk in her eyes & we realized it’d be a trip to urgent care for both. luckily, we heard about KidMed which was super close by my parents’ house. They opened at 3p & we were waiting at 245. We were impressed by the nurses, doctor & staff. We got in & seen & on our way within an hour. They checked & thankfully both were negative for RSV & the flu. They were diagnosed with viral colds/upper respatory infections & pink eye. A couple days of drops three times a day, & the babies are doing much better.

They got much TLC Thurs & Fri from their Pops & me while Jason rested. We decided to delay going home til they were better.

Of course, Sat, my dad & I woke up stuffy & with sore throats. After a couple doses of dayquil, he felt better, but they didn’t have anything I could take but cough drops . I’ve been struggling through & thankful that my Mom stayed well & Jason was on the mend enough for me to rest Sat evening.

As I write this Sunday afternoon traveling back home, lil crusty noses are all that remains of the babies’ sickness, Jason has the colds-almost-over cough, & I have tissues stuck up my nose. Good times!

Babies First Thanksgiving

This post is embarassingly late. But that’s me lately when it comes to downloading & uploading photos & often for social events too. I hope the ‘hello, I have two babies’ will work for a little bit longer.

While we’re still in the land of sick babies, so far today is our first fever-free day. And I thought I’d post Thanksgiving before we got into Christmas week. 😛

My entire extended family {us, my parents, brother & SIL, my mom’s sisters & my grandfather} arrived in OIB {where my Dad’s parents live} Wednesday night. We all gathered together first for a Thanksgiving church service on the beach Thursday morning.

Lucy & I had seen it become daylight that morning ~ what a way to be thankful~ to see the sun rising over a canal while holding your baby girl. I was also thankful a few minutes later when my Nana & Pawpaw woke up, took over Lucy duty so I could get another hour’s sleep before Zach woke up.

After church, we chilled, watched the parade, enjoyed a delicious brunch, then my SIL, Mom, aunts, Nana & the babies & I headed off to the two little local shops open Thanksgiving day. We bought a few birthday/Christmas gifts for each other then arrived back at the beach house in time for me to nurse & the others to finish up cooking dinner. My thanksgiving meal was interrupted by a big Lucy poo {not the last meal interruptedfor that reason of that I can be sure}.

Friday, we took Z & L with us for their first black Friday shopping. They were a hit in all the stores & we all found a few deals too. Friday night, we went out to dinner at Inlet View. The food & company was great!

Saturday was more of a chill day, watching football, playing with the babies on the floor. We all bundled up & went to watch the OIB floatila Saturday evening. It was great. Lucy was snuggled on me in our Ergo & slept through it. Zach watched it from my Dad’s lap; one of his favorite spots. Overall, a great thankful weekend.

Babies First Tree

My parents came down this past weekend to help us decorate. Thank goodness! My mom loves decorating & loves Christmas {my whole family really does}, so by noon on Saturday, our house was Christmasified.

We’ve had good luck getting NC trees at our local Lowes, so we packed the babies up {in Christmas attire of course} & headed that way after they’d napped & nursed. We needed a fairly tall but skinny tree & found the perfect one!

The babies & my blue eyes didn’t handle the sun so well; Mom, Jason, the babies & the tree; the babies & I; Jason & our tree.

Jason tied it to the roof of the van, while I got the babies back in.

Babies’ first tree.

Mom stopped & got hot dogs for Dad, Jason & herself & I snapped photos of my babies.

Zach & Lucy

They slept on the few minute ride home then while we got the tree all set up inside {thank you babes!}.

I love the tree at night; our mantel {stockings still to be hung}; Mom decorating the tree; Jason & Lucy; Pops with Lucy. {Zach was always held by me}

They love the lights, & we have fun showing them different ornaments including the ones for them already given to them by their grandparents on both sides. It’s wonderful & completely awesome already to view Christmas from their eyes.

VA Sip & See

We took our first trip as a family of four {with my aunt in the way back of the van to help} to my parents’ house this past weekend. I’ve been waiting to post about it until I had a chance to get on my laptop & upload/edit the photos.

Since who knows when I’ll have time for that, I thought I’d share the few from the weekend I took from my cell. I’ll update later because there are some good ones on the DSLR too.

Mom made pumpkin waffles from a mix she got at Costco. While we were eating, we put Zach & Lucy in borrowed bumbo & bouncy seats.

Happy bouncing Lucy

They were enjoying the attention from their Cici & Pops & checking out their new surroundings.

I took photos of the babies in my parents’ den during Saturday day that I used in the North American Bear Co giveaway. My brother stopped by early afternoon for some baby snuggles & to watch the Wolfpack win a game!

I’d be chosen for a Sabra Hummus House Party Saturday too. We were able to serve Sabra Mango salsa & tortilla chips & Sabra Spinach Artichoke hummus with carrots, peppers & pita chips.

My family cheesing it up for the Sabra House Party.

Mom had also made a pumpkin dip that we put out with apples, pears & ginger snaps, BLT tarts, buffalo chicken dip with scoops & celery & pumpkin muffins. And no sip & see at my mom’s could be complete without plenty of beer & wine to go around!

Lucy & Mommy {my new favorite}, Lucy rolling!, Zach in the bumbo as the party wines down, friends & Zach, Marsha with Lucy, brother & Quinn

Our great family friends Molly & her mom Amy holding a sleeping Lucy girl.

The babies did great while being passed around among 20+ family friends during the Sip & See Saturday late afternoon. Before we changed Lucy out of her owl dress, Mom & I had to get a girls photo.

Three generations!
Sleeping Zach

Zach took a little nap in the bouncy seat while we fixed dinner. He cracked me up because he fell asleep with his finger still hooked on the ring.

My mom & aunt took babies’ duty Saturday night & I slept for six straight hours. It was quite a blessing. So was the 2+ hour naps Zach & Lucy took on the way home Sunday afternoon!
