Snow December 4th in NC!?!

Yes, you read that right. I was shocked last Friday to read on twitter first then weather bug that they were calling for a 30% chance of snow for Saturday 12/4 in NC. We didn’t believe it. I didn’t do the NC thing & stock up on bread & milk {we had both already}.

Our Saturday plans were to get our tree & decorate it & the rest of the house. We were being lazy & watching gameday & football Saturday morning. Moe being lazy {aka normal}.

Next thing I knew it was around 1p and we noticed it was spittin’ snow! I was so excited! I went up to the attic & got down the decorations. Vacuumed the house. I was about the jump in the shower when Jason yelled that it was really snowing & even better, sticking a little to the deck, bushes & grass! I took these photos with my phone so they’re pretty grainy but you can see it.

I jumped in the shower & then we headed out to get the tree from Lowes close by just in case the snow was sticking on the roads. Lowes looked like a winter wonderland! I found one tree thought it looked good but then realized it was too skinny. So we went back through the snowy trees and found a more full one. I love it!

Once we got the tree home, the snow had fallen off but it was a little too wet to decorate. We decorated the rest of the house and I did the owl tree. We waited until Sunday afternoon to decorate the tree & it looks awesome I must say. I’ll post photos of decorations later this week.

New Boots! and other Black Friday deals

Husband’s playing a video game & my blogging Monday made him “die”. So I’m blogging from my phone for now. Excuse errors. I’ll go back tomorrow & fix as well as add photos.

After our successful midnight shopping, we were up again by 815a Friday morning. I grabbed a Diet Coke and a few pumpkin cookies before getting in the SUV w/ Mom & Nana to be at Victoria’s Ragpatch by 9a. We arrived at 9:02a so we missed standing in line but arrived in time to get a coupon each for 50% off any one regular price item! Almost the entire OIB store was 75% off clothes (including Lilly!) and 50% off accessories. We all scored OkaB’s for $7 (Mom & Nana got a few for themselves & I bought some for gifts for my aunts). I also bought a pair of Lilly linen pants for $22, a Lilly koozie, guest towels & coasters. I used my 50% off coupon on one of the brand new resort line peach chic polos. I love those buttons & can’t wait til its warm enough to wear.

After Vicki’s, we headed to Belk’s. We bought my grandfather loungewear, some jewelry for ourselves (like $17 for supposed to be real black & white pearl necklace/bracelet/earring set) & I found some tall flat dark brown boots that I loved! Only problem, didn’t have them in my size. A helpful salesperson discovered they had 4 at my home mall Belk & a super helpful Raleigh Belk employee let me purchase them over the phone & she found coupons to make them an even better price~ orginally $89 bought for $48!! I wore them today with brown leggings & took a self pic to show yall.
We went back home for lunch then back out to go to surf shop for my brother as well as pick up all the pandora jewelry {the saleslady there had wrapped them individually then held them for us}. We bought fresh off the boat grouper to have for dinner. We topped with blackening seasoning then baked and served with broccoli casserole & leftover sweet potato casserole.

Saturday we mostly chilled. Mom & I took a good walk on the beach. We celebrated Mom’s birthday {which was Sunday} and {very early} mine after lunch. Lowes Food cake was delicious! And we both opened some fun gifts! I received a purple v-neck from Loft, an orange sweater dress {that will look awesome w/ my boots!}, Lilly Christmas ornaments from my brother, & grandparents & parents put money towards my Nikon Christmas camera.

The girls went for mani/pedis early Sat afternoon. I chose RED opi polish anticipating it lookin’ great cheering on NCSU at the ACC championship 12/4. Sadly, the NCSU/MD did not go the way we hoped. Towards the end of the game we left & went to see the end of the OIB floatilla. The boats looked great & helped get me really in the festive Christmas mood.

Thankfilled Thanksgiving

Yes I know “thankfilled” isn’t a word, but that’s the best way I can think of to describe this past long weekend. Only thing we missed was Jason & my future sister-in-law Beth, otherwise it was fabulous!

I left right after work Wednesday and headed down to Ocean Isle. I arrived just in time to watch a little TV and unpack before my parents & brother arrived from Midlo. My brother brought his pup Quinn so they stayed downstairs & I was upstairs in a twin bed.

I’m realizing now that most of my photos from the weekend are of Quinnie & Nana & Pawpaw’s Bocce. The dogs are about the same size height-wise, but Quinn’s double Bocce’s weight!! Quinn LOVES Bocce. Bocce’s not a huge fan but was kind of won over by the end of the weekend.

Thanksgiving Thursday we woke up early & went to church on the beach. It was a perfect fall day for a beautiful service. We had scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls (from a can! easy & yummy!), pineapple slices & bacon. One of Nana’s friends had let us borrow her turkey roaster {kind of a big crock pot} & Nana was very organized with all the other food so we had time on our hands. The guys were watching NFL games, so Mom, Nana & I did what we enjoy & kinda do best: shop for deals! We chilled for a little bit then headed off to the two open shops. I’d come up with the idea of starting Mom & Nana Pandora bracelets for Christmas. Island Breeze was open 12-6 & has a whole Pandora area in the shop. We ended up spending over 2 hours with the sweet ladies there! Since neither of them know or look here, I’ll show you what they’re getting from me! Mom’s getting the owl charm & sunburst clip. Nana’s getting the beveled clip & the Bible charm.{my Dad & brother also went in with me for the bracelets & other charms & clips!}

We also went over to Sunset Beach on their new, much debate bridge. I thought it was very nice & convenient. {Before they had a swing, one lane bridge that opened hourly or more of big ships to go through the intercoastal.} We stopped my the gift shop where Nana used to work {& by work Pawpaw would say she tended to owe them money for all she bought while she was there!}. Mom bought a fun sweater dress & she bought me a shopping basket for my birthday {& getting it monogrammed with a “B”}. Everything in the store was 40% off that day.
We all thought the turkey might’ve been the best ever; super moist & delicious. We had stuffing {mom threw it together with celery, onions, oysters & turkey stock since we forgot to buy chicken stock}, sweet potato casserole, green beans & rolls. With the help of Mrs Smith, we had apple & pumpkin pies as well as Nana’s famous rice krispy treats, my pumpkin cookies & fudge.

Steven, Mom, Nana & I played a round of Mexican Train Dominos & I was in the “lucky” broken bar stool & won! Mom & Steven also hatched the idea of doing midnight Walmart shopping…I didn’t plan to buy anything, but I’m a night owl so I was up for it. Dad even came along for the ride to check it out. We ended up finding a couple of $5 & $10 DVDs & Blurays for Steven & Beth for Christmas as well as NBA 2k11 for $29 {the reason we went}. I ended up buying Steven a $15 shopvac that will be part of his Christmas gift. What we passed up that I regret, the Shark Steam Mop for $36. I didn’t realize what a deal it was!

Check back tomorrow for the rest of our holiday weekend.

Fall Decorating

A couple great things about having my parents in town (besides the obvious~hanging out with them), a clean house & Mom around to help me decorate for fall! We got out my Halloween stash Saturday night and set it out around the house. The wreath was too thick for the front door so I put in the foyer instead. I put a little wooden owl on the front door.We also took a trip to Walmart and brought a pumpkin, gourds, and some pansies for the mailbox & front stoop. Happy Fall Y’all!

Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day Mom (even though I don’t think she reads this)! Just wanted to do a quick post to say now only how awesome my Mom is but to give her a big shout out THANKS!!This probably isn’t the best photo of us, but it is the most recent. I wish I could’ve been there tonight with you & Steven & Dad to celebrate in person! Looking forward to celebrating with yall & Nana over Memorial weekend! Speaking of Nana, Happy Mother’s Day to both of my awesome grandmothers! I was able to speak with Nana on the phone this afternoon.

I also had the opportunity this weekend to spend a couple of hours with my Ma to celebrate Mother’s Day with her. I took this photo after lunch while I was giving her a manicure. She got sleepy so I just quietly keep going! Much love to her!
