I tried my best (kinda) to finish the recent books for the Nestie book club and I’ve failed! I didn’t finish Revolutionary Road (and after hearing the discussion don’t plan to). This month’s selection was A Freewheelin’ Time. It was a memoir about the author Suze Roloto who dated Bob Dylan in the 60s. I probably read half of it but I lost interest and just started flipping through the pages. My copy was large print and that was annoying me too. It was way over due at the library (sorry whoever wanted it weeks ago!) so I just gave up and returned it. I’m interested to see what everyone else thinks of it at our meeting Wed night (I think the only thing I liked was her name!).
I’ve moved on to more fun books for the end of the summer. I just finished Rebecca Wells newest, The Crowning Glory of Calla Lily Ponder, which I really enjoyed. This is the same author of the Ya-ya books which made me laugh & cry just like Calla did. It was a great beach read while I was at the beach on Saturday.
Next up is Toni McGee Causey’s Bobbie Faye’s Family Jewels. I loved the first book about Bobbie Faye which I read on our honeymoon and this one looks equally as funny. I must be in a LA book mood because it’s the setting for both my most current reads!
I’m also looking forward to next month when we’re reading Julie & Julia (if I can ever get it from the library!!). Happy reading to me.

Barbara Delinksky
I’ve been on a kick of reading her novels. She might be my new Jodi Picoult (in that now I want to read everything she’s written). Last year I read Family Secrets and I thought it was really good. In the past 2 weeks I’ve read The Secret Between Us (about a car accident and what little white lies can do to a family) and I stayed up until 215am on Sunday finishing her most recent novel While My Sister Sleeps (about a family dealing with a grown daughther in a coma). I really like how she tells things from all sides of the story and gets you really into the characters. Also like Jodi Picoult, the family from The Secret Between Us showed up in While My Sister Sleeps! I love it when authors do that! I think I’m going to have to go to the library today and see what else of hers I can pick up for beach reads for our trips over the next couple of weeks. I’m trying to start Revoltunary Road this week toom, but I hear its kinda heavy so I might take breaks in it to read more fun reads.
Beach Weekend Reads
So I’m heading to OIB for the first of hopefully many trips this spring & summer. My favorite thing to do at the beach is read. It kinda drives my mom crazy since her favorite thing to do on the beach is talk! I have four books set aside for 3 days off. Ha! I started Breaking Dawn tonight (its the fourth & last of the Twilight series). I’m also bringing Marley & Me (which is the April XO Alum selection & its perfect to hide tears with big sunglasses), Election (May nestie book club selection), and Multiple Bles8ings (probably kinda cheesy but I love the show & thought it’d be a good beach read). I can’t wait!! Anyone reading this read any of those books? Have any favorite beach reads?
Outlander Series
I’m sad. I finished A Breath of Snow & Ashes on Sunday which is the last of the series until some time in 2010. I had dreams in Scottish Highland accents all weekend. I miss Clare, and Jamie, and Bree, and Roger and the funny Mr & Mrs Bugg and all the cute kids… I might have to read the series again before the next books come out (and each one is around 900 pages!!)
I started Handle with Care Monday (its Jodi Picoult’s new book). Its a one week library rental so I’ve gotta speed read it this week. I’ve heard its really good, but I got a box of tissues ready.
Then its back to Twilight which has to be done by Sunday 3/22. I’ve heard nothing but great things about it and think I’ll fly through it. I’m looking forward to meeting Bella & Edward.
Twilight
After months of hearing about the Twilight series and different groups of friends all being fairly obsessed, I gave into it. My sorority alum group is discussing the book and watching the movie on 3/22. I’m about the open up the first book while watching my grandmother take a nap. Im here with her in Charlotte for the weekend visiting because she fell last Sat and broke her hip. My aunt and I are giving my grandfather a break today and tomorrow and hanging out in the rehab center. And Im getting to see and hang out with my friend Beth tonight. Hope everyone has a good weekend. Ps on the way here I was jamming out to Taylor Swift’s Fearless~ loving it!
