Mine came first after I got the idea from my good friend & sorority big sister Melissa who’s super crafty & made her own. I found some sample ones online. Nana is super crafty & was able to create a pattern for it. We decided 4 shirts across & 5 shirts down. Next the hard part was deciding which 20 shirts!! I found NCSU fabric at Walmart for in between the shirts & a cute red & white dots fabric for the back & sides. I decided to have my shirts in order of event date even though that meant a few slashing colors are close by. Nana calls mine the “rough draft”, but I say its anything but!

First OIB Trip of 2010
I was about to title this post “First Beach Trip of 2010”, but I remembered that I’d been to FL. Oops! But OIB is “my” or even “our” beach since Jason & I got married around there. I CAN’T wait! Toes in the sand, freckles out, a few tan lines, & frosty drinks!! Also hoping to get in some reading time. The weather is supposed to be fabulous. I’ll try to take a few pictures.
Update with photo~ couldn’t resist posting this cute one (the only photo I took all weekend!) of Jason & Bocce. It’s so hard to keep Bocce still. This is the best we could do!
So far this has been a good week for Jason & I. 🙂 I’ll update y’all on Jason’s work news & maybe car news next week. We also found out we’ll be getting money back on our taxes!
Visiting the Parents
We enjoyed a great trip this past weekend to VA to visit my parents. We went up there to help celebrate my Dad’s 55th birthday & my parents 30th anniversary which was actually on the 22nd. My OIB grandparents were able to come up with Bocce the puppy also. It was so great to see everyone! Chubs (aka brother Steven) & his girlfriend Beth came over with their new addition~ puppy French Bulldog Quinn.
I didn’t take my camera but my Dad took a few fun pictures of the dogs getting to know each other. Bocce is older & bigger, but Quinn’s been around a lot more dogs. Bocce was very scared! After 5 hours, they finally kinda became buddies. I think it’ll take a weekend at OIB for them to really get along.
We celebrated together by cooking at home & making a few yummy drinks & playing Left Right Center. Jason & I got Dad a new cooler full of Diet Cheerwine (which he can’t get in VA). We went in with Beth & Steven & gave Mom & Dad flowers & a gift card to a local non-chain Italian place. Its their favorite take-out spot! Hope they enjoy!
Thanksgiving
We spent Thanksgiving in Charlotte this year. We celebrated the holiday with my mom’s side of the family. We ate an amazing Thanksgiving buffett at Cypress. Mom was able to get an apartment for us to stay which searved as our gathering spot. We celebrated birthdays and played a lot of games ~ uno, Mexican Train Dominos & Left, Right, Center. My brother was the overall game winner for the weekend. It was very nice getting together with everyone and was fairly drama free!
Its a busy & pretty rough year for my mom’s parents and her sisters. Ma fell and broke her hip last January. She had surgery, went to a rehabilitation center & tried to relearn to walk which didn’t work very well so now she is in a rehabilitation/nursing home within my grandfather’s retirement community. Mom, her sisters, & I tried to be there as much as possible over the last year to give my grandfather & grandmother a break.
At this point, I’ve gotten used to how Ma is now and get excited to see her & how she interacts with us. Mom & I hung out with her at a couple of meals and a “work out” session. It was wheelchair pilates. The vast majority of older people lifted their legs a lil, clapped and stretched; Mom & I did the same but full out & we got sweaty!! Ma’s left leg which she fell on does move well but we got her to move her arms & kick her right leg.
But seeing my brother & cousin see her for probably the first time in a year was pretty sad. It made me realize how much really had changed since last year when we were all together at Ocean Isle; running around shopping etc. I know aging happens and my brother & I have been very lucky to have four grandparents our whole lives, but I’m not ready to lose any of them yet! For now, I hope to spend as much time with my family as possible and be grateful for the blessing of family.
So excited!
I’ll write a post & add pictures from our fun trip to OIB & Wilimington last weekend.
But tonight I’m so excited about this upcoming weekend! My parents and my brother & his girlfriend are coming down to visit us tomorrow for the weekend. I’ve been cleaning all week (probably not as much as I should’ve but they know us!) and planning this for a few months!
On tap: hanging out playing Wii & trying the beer my parents made Friday night. Saturday AM & day, Costco muffins for breakfast, girls do a lil shopping, pack up the cars & head out to Carter-Finley for the Duke game. We have an awesome parking pass thanks to Dad & the Varsity Club. Plans to grill & munch & enjoy a few cold beverages and hopefully stay dry! It’d be nice if the Wolfpack won too! Sat night, chill at the house. Sunday lunch; PF Changs to celebrate my new job & Jason passing is CCNA! So excited!!!!
