30 Never Looked so Good or Was More Fun!

Two Saturdays ago {yep playing catch up} after {the tornado} & we had celebrated Emma’s 1st birthday, Jason & I headed to Sparian’s to help my good friend, Kelly, party her way to 3-0. Sparian’s is a fairly new upscale bowling alley/restaurant/bar. It was very cool & the perfect place for our crowd.

Kelly’s friends & family turned out in full effect {from as far away as Greenville, SC!} & we had a great time catching up with them all.

There was a little bowling done {I was awful!}, a little drinking, & some delicious cake enjoyed. Happy birthday Kelly!

Project 365

Sixteen {!!} weeks into project 365. Pretty eventful week & I even managed a photo everyday but one!

Day 106 Saturday{after the crazy tornado weather} Jason & I headed to Emma’s first birthday party. the birthday girl was passed from family to family & I realized later I didn’t get a photo of her. I did take photos of the cute owl decorations & baby Brianna‘s big sister Lexie {who after realizing I’d share my cake stayed by my side!}. After that we ran off to celebrate Kelly’s 30th which is a post to come.

Day 107 Sunday I pretty much laid on the couch in a bloated state reading, watching Easy A & doing a little laundry. I might have also finished off Sweet Tart jelly beans. Maybe.

Day 108 Monday we went to Greensboro to sell the black Evo then Winston to look at another car. Yeah our few hour adventure turned into an all day affair when Jason decided to buy the white Evo. I rushed back to town just in time to meet Alethea, BA, Kathleen, Shannon & Brandy for dinner. Not my photo {from Brandy’s iphone b/c my phone had died} but here’s A & I enjoying Yogurt Mountain dessert.

Day 109 Tuesday I photo’d the new car, stocked up on essentials at Costco then smiled at Moe’s paws.

Day 110 The only photo I took Wednesday is the next book on my TBR list, The Daughter’s Walk which I plan to read this long weekend.

Day 111 After two days being back in claims due to the storm, I wanted *needed* a margarita. I asked for on the rocks but was fine with the frozen one she brought. Hello Weekend, nice to see you!

Day 112 Friday night of Easter weekend. I love this photo of my mom!

Hope everyone has a very happy Easter weekend!

Chi O Brunch

Chi Omega sorority turned 116 Apr 5th. The NCSU chapter hosted a brunch to celebrate inviting local alum Saturday the 9th. My friend Kelly just sent me the photos this week. The house looked so pretty that I had just had to post. They’ve done a good amount of improvements since I lived there~ updated paint, shower stall doors, & much needed redecorating. I loved it then but so excited about the improvements!

Also in attendance at the brunch was Kate S. who is now on our national board {a VERY big deal}. She’s from the NCSU chapter & lives locally. We presented her with a photo plaque which will be hung in the house. Kate also spoke briefly {along with current chapter officers} about the current state of Chi O & what exact she does in her national position. It was so cool!

Sadly, Kelly’s camera battery died before she was able to get a photo of us too. {I’d left mine at home}

Were any of y’all in sororities? Are you active with other alum or your old chapter? I’d love to hear how others sororities celebrate things.

Capture the Everyday: Earth Day edition

In honor of Earth day which is 4/22, Melissa at Adventuroo {who I had the pleasure of meeting last Wednesday night!!} made this week’s Capture the Everyday about what you are doing to save the planet.

When I heard the theme last week, I immediately thought that my biggest change this year is keeping the plastic & using reusable bags. I started with buying the red Target one. Then I got the green Target one free last year & the orange & other green one were freebies too. I keep some in the house {I use a big maroon Farm Bureau for dry cleaning}, but mostly I keep them in my car. I’ve learned if they’re in my car, I can’t forget to grab them before going in to the store.

SOOC & taken late but couldn’t miss this theme

Something else pro-environment we’ve always done is recycling. This year Raleigh gave us this huge blue container that they pick up bi-weekly. We usually fill it up while we might just have one bag or less of trash a week. Yay environment!

Everything Else Reading

Never Let Me Go

This was April’s book club book. I’d posted a couple times while reading that I wasn’t too enthused before & while reading. But the further into Never Let Me Go I got, the more interested I was. I got to the point that I spent most of a Sunday finishing it up. While this is not my normal style of book & I know I’d never have read it if not the book club selection, I’m glad I did. The book did make for great discussion too.

The book was in first person & set in modern day England. The diction was weird which was fitting as the main character {well all the characters} were different. I’ve read two other books since & it’s premise has definitely stuck with me.

I can’t say much without giving things away, so I’ll just say this. If you’re into the possibility of science & humans, read it. If you like books that make you think, read it.

Up next, book thoughts on Two Kisses for Maddy & Wesley the Owl. Next on the TBR pile, The Daughter’s Walk & The Irresistible Henry House.
