Thankfilled Thanksgiving

Yes I know “thankfilled” isn’t a word, but that’s the best way I can think of to describe this past long weekend. Only thing we missed was Jason & my future sister-in-law Beth, otherwise it was fabulous!

I left right after work Wednesday and headed down to Ocean Isle. I arrived just in time to watch a little TV and unpack before my parents & brother arrived from Midlo. My brother brought his pup Quinn so they stayed downstairs & I was upstairs in a twin bed.

I’m realizing now that most of my photos from the weekend are of Quinnie & Nana & Pawpaw’s Bocce. The dogs are about the same size height-wise, but Quinn’s double Bocce’s weight!! Quinn LOVES Bocce. Bocce’s not a huge fan but was kind of won over by the end of the weekend.

Thanksgiving Thursday we woke up early & went to church on the beach. It was a perfect fall day for a beautiful service. We had scrambled eggs, cinnamon rolls (from a can! easy & yummy!), pineapple slices & bacon. One of Nana’s friends had let us borrow her turkey roaster {kind of a big crock pot} & Nana was very organized with all the other food so we had time on our hands. The guys were watching NFL games, so Mom, Nana & I did what we enjoy & kinda do best: shop for deals! We chilled for a little bit then headed off to the two open shops. I’d come up with the idea of starting Mom & Nana Pandora bracelets for Christmas. Island Breeze was open 12-6 & has a whole Pandora area in the shop. We ended up spending over 2 hours with the sweet ladies there! Since neither of them know or look here, I’ll show you what they’re getting from me! Mom’s getting the owl charm & sunburst clip. Nana’s getting the beveled clip & the Bible charm.{my Dad & brother also went in with me for the bracelets & other charms & clips!}

We also went over to Sunset Beach on their new, much debate bridge. I thought it was very nice & convenient. {Before they had a swing, one lane bridge that opened hourly or more of big ships to go through the intercoastal.} We stopped my the gift shop where Nana used to work {& by work Pawpaw would say she tended to owe them money for all she bought while she was there!}. Mom bought a fun sweater dress & she bought me a shopping basket for my birthday {& getting it monogrammed with a “B”}. Everything in the store was 40% off that day.
We all thought the turkey might’ve been the best ever; super moist & delicious. We had stuffing {mom threw it together with celery, onions, oysters & turkey stock since we forgot to buy chicken stock}, sweet potato casserole, green beans & rolls. With the help of Mrs Smith, we had apple & pumpkin pies as well as Nana’s famous rice krispy treats, my pumpkin cookies & fudge.

Steven, Mom, Nana & I played a round of Mexican Train Dominos & I was in the “lucky” broken bar stool & won! Mom & Steven also hatched the idea of doing midnight Walmart shopping…I didn’t plan to buy anything, but I’m a night owl so I was up for it. Dad even came along for the ride to check it out. We ended up finding a couple of $5 & $10 DVDs & Blurays for Steven & Beth for Christmas as well as NBA 2k11 for $29 {the reason we went}. I ended up buying Steven a $15 shopvac that will be part of his Christmas gift. What we passed up that I regret, the Shark Steam Mop for $36. I didn’t realize what a deal it was!

Check back tomorrow for the rest of our holiday weekend.

Its Thursday…

…which mean time for Thankful Thursday with The Outdoor Wife.
I was going to skip this week since I’ve had a busy week and thought I’d skip a night of blogging. But while I was sitting on the couch tonight, I realized I was thankful & needed to get it out.

While not super deep & thought-provoking, tonight I’m thankful for:
*banana pudding. easy to make, few ingredients & oh so good!

*the excitement of upcoming vacation! even if it’s a just a long weekend 3 hours away. I can’t wait to put my feet in the sand, hang out with my family & witness a family friend’s wedding.

*finding a great dress on sale! I was going back & forth about what to wear to Saturday’s wedding. Thanks for Loft & their 25% off sale, I got this dress. I also got small gold hoops & plan to borrow a basic gold bracelet from Mom. I promise I won’t wear those shoes! And while I was there I bought this sweater in Opal Grey which I plan to wear with black/grey pants I bought but couldn’t find a photo of & this top. The chiffon roses have a gold tint. I think it’ll look super cute with jeans & gold wedges this fall. A lot all while on my lunch break right? The total $118!

*last but certainly not least~ Fall TV shows! Saturday means college football! Sunday means Amazing Race; Monday: Oprah (every weekday), Quints by Surprise, House & hubby’s Chuck; Tuesday Glee, Biggest Loser, 19 Kids and Counting & Sons of Anarchy; Wednesday: Survivor; Thursday: Grey’s & Private Practice. Why yes, we do watch a lot of TV. Thank goodness for DVR!

Wish List Wednesday

So I was planning to do a wish list Wednesday post because I love reading them on others blogs. But since I did a little shopping/winning last night & today, I thought I’d share what’s on the way to me!

I won this diaper clutch from Bird E Studio by guessing what Erika was doing last night. {The answer was going to a quilting class!} I plan to use it as a clutch within my purse for now, but I think it’ll be awesome to have once I’m a mom too. Erika made it so that it perfectly fits 2 disposable diapers & a small wipes case.

I’ve been an admirer of all things Gussy for a while now. Maggie’s products are featured a few blogs I love, her blog & her products are so cool & she seems so sweet on twitter (she’s @gussysews). I signed up for her newsletter & received a 15% off coupon code this week. I was wearing a grey top today & I thought it was boring. I remembered she just mentioned these limited addition grey ruffle headbands recently that would be great with my outfit. She’d taken them down from the store, but after I tweeted her she put a few back up so I could buy one! How cute is this?! Later this afternoon, I went back to Gussy & was lusting over this precious umbrella clutch with the red ruffle. Red= perfect to take to NCSU football games! Well, my 15% of worked again & she gave me discounted shipping for 2 items, so I was sold!

I can’t wait to receive my fun new handmade products! I love supporting awesome ladies!

My other purchase today was thanks to a recommendation from World’s Best Cat Litter via twitter (@bestcatlitter) after I was kinda bitching last week about Moe & his litter situation. If you don’t remember from this post, I love the “greeness” of WBCL, that it’s flushable & that it’s made with corn so I don’t worry if Moe licks his paws after stepping through it. I was slack last week & didn’t clean the box very often. As a result, it was smelling & kinda cloughed up the toilet. Anyways, WBCL told me to try the multi cat clumping formula. I was so excited they wrote me back! I went to Petco for cat food & bought the multi cat litter (only $7.99 after using a $3 off coupon). I plan to add it into the existing litter this weekend.

In case anyone cares, I wasn’t given anything for making this post. I’m just sharing my excitement over these products.

I also thought I’d share a photo of my new ones to compare. You don’t realize JUST how dirty they are until both are side by side!!The new ones arrived Thursday just in time for me to take & wear them to a couples shower Saturday night. I’ll make a post about this past weekends fun tomorrow!

Show Us Your Life…

China Patterns. I saw Kelly’s Korners SUYL post today and knew I had to participate.
I might have mentioned our three patterns in the Twitter Home Tour Post, but if not here’s the scoop. We have three patterns. Our formal one is blue & silver that my Dad’s mom gave us as a wedding gift (its their wedding formal china & so pretty). I don’t know the name and we’ve only used it on our first married Valentine’s Day when we cooked at home. Here’s a photo of it in our china cabinet from the Home Tour Post.

We registered for Crate & Barrel’s Madison as our everyday pattern. I love that its white & you can do whatever tablesetting and it’ll look good. We didn’t realize until we received our first setting that it is not evenly lipped~ but now we like that about it!

Our third pattern might be my favorite. It’s our Christmas china! It’s Lenox’s Holiday Gatherings. I love that we actually have four different patterns within Holiday Gatherings ~ its so cute that they coordinate. The plaid is my favorite, but it was retired right after we registered. I was only able to find four of the below salad plates. Sometimes we’ll use all of one type and others just whatever comes out of te cabinet first. I love when November rolling around because it means we can bring it out soon!

I’m at work so these photos are all from the internet (thanks Crate & Barrel & Amazon!).
