Hilton Head

Jason & I got back from Hilton Head on Saturday evening after my work trip. I just downloaded pictures and realized I thought all the ones with my in them were bad so I dont have any of us, but there’s some cute ones of my coworkers that I’ll post.
Thursday night I enjoyed Firefly with Simply Lemonade! So yummy…maybe too yummy! 😛 Just a little left of the bottle, but I’ll be up for more this weekend. Thanks for the recommendations.
Friday night Holly, her husband Ryan, Jason & I had an early dinner at The Old Oyster Factory then drinks by the Marriott pool. We decided we wanted to go out for a bit so we had a drink at Marley’s (which I’d been to last summer with family) then ended up at One Hot Mama (which was more of a college hang out and just made us “old folks” laugh!).
After Holly & I’s meeting on Saturday morning we checked out of the hotel and had lunch at The Salty Dog Cafe. Moekitty ate my shirt from last summer so I got a new one. Jason thought the One Hot Mama shirts were fun so we stopped by there and got him & Holly & Ryan one of them. Good times had by all. Thanks for the trip FB!

Firefly

Its sweet tea vodka that I’ve heard so much about recently. I visited the local ABC store & got a bottle to take to a work conference trip to Hilton Head this weekend. Has anyone reading this tried it? What’s your favorite way to drink it?

Barbara Delinksky

I’ve been on a kick of reading her novels. She might be my new Jodi Picoult (in that now I want to read everything she’s written). Last year I read Family Secrets and I thought it was really good. In the past 2 weeks I’ve read The Secret Between Us (about a car accident and what little white lies can do to a family) and I stayed up until 215am on Sunday finishing her most recent novel While My Sister Sleeps (about a family dealing with a grown daughther in a coma). I really like how she tells things from all sides of the story and gets you really into the characters. Also like Jodi Picoult, the family from The Secret Between Us showed up in While My Sister Sleeps! I love it when authors do that! I think I’m going to have to go to the library today and see what else of hers I can pick up for beach reads for our trips over the next couple of weeks. I’m trying to start Revoltunary Road this week toom, but I hear its kinda heavy so I might take breaks in it to read more fun reads.

Weddings!

I’m getting really excited about three upcoming weddings! My friend from work Amber & her fiance Magnus’ have asked me to be the greeter at their wedding in Raleigh over Labor Day weekend. It’s going to be really pretty and intimate at The Umstead Hotel.
My friend and old roommate from college Cheryl & Brian’s wedding is Oct 24th in Greenville, SC. The chapel location is on a mountain top called Pretty Place & the reception is at a place called the Lazy Goat! 😛
And my good friend Kelly has asked me to be the matron of honor at her & Brett’s wedding next Apr 24th! I’m already having a blast going to check out places & help get back in wedding planning mode.
I can’t wait for their upcoming showers, engagement parties, & bachelorette’s nights this summer!

No Treats ~ Sad News

I’m sad to announce that my beach grandparents’ dog Bogey was put to sleep yesterday. He was getting pretty old (12) and we found out he had cancer in January. So it was expected but still kinda shocking and sad. My grandparents’ dogs have always kinda been our dogs too, and Bogey was certainly a special one. He and my grandfather shared a special bond. We’d joke that the order of Bogey’s love was Pawpaw, Steven (my brother), Nana then everyone else (I was only up there if I was holding a rice crispy treat!). Obviously my grandparents are very upset even though they knew this was coming. But we are all taking comfort in the fact that Bogey’s no longer in pain.
I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures of him with the blogging world. I don’t have as many as I thought on this computer, but here’s a few and the stories surrounding them. The top picture is from Christmas a few years ago~ I think ’07 is when I got that pink bag. Bogey’s favorite part of Christmas was helping Steven open the presents unless he had a Christmas ball under the tree~ he’d sniff those out for sure!
Looks like Bogey was trying to blog in the second picture~ but really he just loved that couch on the RV! My mom’s not a huge dog lover and Bogey and Mom spent the whole cross country trip “fighting” over seats. In the third picture, Bogey had decided they’d share the couch.
The fourth picture is Bogey meeting my brother’s cat Triumph when Triumph was a kitten. Right after this picture Triumph introduced Bogey to his claws and they chased each other around the apartment. It was funny and cute.
Bogey met Moe a few times when my grandparents would pick me up or drop me off while going to or coming from my parent’s house~ but only through a screen door. They weren’t fans of each other.
I took a few pictures of Bogey Easter weekend~ I think we all knew it might be his last. My Nana is a singer~ I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t in her church choir as well as her humming all the time. Well as Nana would be practicing, Bogey would “sing” along. He got so that all we had to say was “sing” and he’d start howling! Easter weekend he was doing so even with his favorite ball in his mouth. I couldn’t resist taking that picture~ it’s blurry because I was laughing!
The final picture is of Bogey napping in his favorite spot~ right in the middle of the floor in between the kitchen & living rooms~ so he could still hear/see everything that was going on.
Bogey you are so missed! We loved you so much ole boy! OIB will not be the same without you!
