Halloween Partyin’

I’ve seen everyone’s cute Halloween posts this week. Since it rained on Monday & we didn’t have a single trick-or-treater, I don’t have a post of that night. But Saturday night I dressed up, made my buffalo chicken {crack!} dip, & drove around the corner to my friends’ Halloween party.

I’d found the perfect costume online for me {Ketchup ~ by far my favorite condiment} as well as the paired Mustard tunic for the Husband. {Next year we’ll wear them again~maybe with future baby{s} as salt or salt & pepper?!!} Sadly, Jason worked late & I couldn’t convince him to join me at the party. With my new sober partier status, I was tired & didn’t stay as long as I’d have liked but long enough to take these fun photos of my work friends & their friends.

Halloween Party Costumes
Such creative costumes

Jenny aka the hostess with the mostess aka Jenny the Price is Right contestant aka Jenny one of two coworkers who knew my secret was having a great time. Her husband Matt {also my coworker} kicked ass as a seventies basketball player. Their house was decked out for the party. It was perfect.

My boss Roseanne & her boyfriend Trent went as the couple from Madame Butterfly. The other couples above were Jenny & Matt’s neighbors & friends. I loved the Flintstones & the Ohio State coach/cheerleader ideas.

Halloween Party Fun

My coworker Scott changed his mind last minute & showed up as a eighties work out dude {his costume had a battery powered fan in the back to keep it blown up!} while his girlfriend was a cute witch. My coworker Tammy {so creative! & crafty!} rocked as Rainbow Brite while her hubby Scott was a cowboy {maybe?}!

Cheers to Halloween!

There was a keg, jello shots & some honey whiskey brought out. I carried around a half empty solo of undrank beer then gave up trying & just had a cup of water. I think everyone in this crowd was having too much fun to notice. 😛

Happy Friday?!

I was hoping I could write a happy Infertile Friday post today. Not in a “I’m pregnant” kind of happy. That’d be ecstatic happy. I was hoping for normal happy.

And now as I type this with a strong cocktail in hand, I’m happy. I’m surrounded by my parents & aunt, & tonight I will enjoy good home cooked food for the first time in five days.

But this week was another crazy one working hours away from home in the claims department. Eleven hour days filled with phone calls, check folding, writing, file organizing, & excel spreadsheet entry.

I left work at 315p ready to fight the rain for 3 hours on my way up to Richmond. Five minutes later, I’m crying as I walk embarrassed back in the office letting them know I just crashed the company car into a brick column. It’s just a sort of small horizontal dent in the back bumper only. I’m not hurt. It’s not that big of a deal. But it still sucks. And since I didn’t have cell service at all I couldn’t even call my supervisor or bosses to let them know. The managers of the claims office took photos & were going to email them to my manager.

I’m spent just typing this. And I’ve got nothing to say on the infertility front. Since my cervix dilation, I have had a lot more CM which is an awesome sign. But my being away from home & husband for two weeks means pretty much no likelihood of pregnancy this cycle. But I’ve been so busy I haven’t really had time to think about it & I’ve really been okay. So long story short. I’m okay. My company car is kinda okay. And I’m off to have another drink. Happy Infertile Friday y’all.

Unplugged

This past week I’ve been 99% unplugged. I was in Edenton, NC & spent 11 hours a day in the claims office & the other time at a local B&B. Nice people. Pretty historic district. Some good restaurants. No cell service with my provider.

I could go a few miles south to a restaurant to have it, but where I was all week: nothing. There was a bit of WiFi at the B&B but only if I was in the other part of the place or a certain middle spot on the bed. So without my control, I took a week off from twitter, my google reader, & blogging here too. I’m going to try to play catch up before I head back there Monday morning.

So thanks to Irene, I’ll have two weeks unplugged from city life. From normal day-to-day life. From 4G internet. From Moe kitty. And from Husband. And thus, from TTC.

We decided we’d just let or not let things happen on our own this month. No crazy old wives tales & no meds. I chose to make these work travel plans around future RE appointments realizing that meant that I was probably ovulating in a B&B in Eastern NC alone yesterday. Here’s hoping the $$ I make helping out is enough for a IUI cycle or two or that this weekend home does the trick. 😉

Another Infertile Friday. Hope your week was filled with hope & happiness. Sometimes a week unplugged can do that for you.

Forest City~ home away from home

Since Monday, the  Holiday Inn Express in Forest City, NC had been called “home”. That & the local NCFB claims office.

In between working & watching DWTS & AI finales {yay Scotty!}, we’ve eaten our way through Rutherford Co. Monday was Wendy’s (apple pecan chicken salad) & Chili’s {we stuck with what we knew}.

Tuesday we branched out to “downtown” FC to Smith’s Drugs. It’s an ole timey drug store {just like the ones from your grandparents’ days}. I think the prices hadn’t changed since then either as my grilled pimiento cheese sandwich with pasta salad & tea was around $5! [flickr id=”5779453300″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”] And while we were eating, I was able to get my Femara prescription filled. We met an agent who’s about to retire & his family at the Flat Rock Cracker Barrel for dinner that night. Go try the summer Strawberry salad while it’s still on the menu.

Gwen & I ventured back downtown on Wednesday for lunch. We walked around checking out antique stores, furniture places & a great local independent pet store {who gave me a few food recommendations for crazy Moekitty} before settling on eating at Ole Blue’s BBQ. [flickr id=”5779453998″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”] I enjoyed a pulled chicken sandwich & probably the best mac n cheese I’d had in a long time. [flickr id=”5779454654″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”] We met an agent & his wife at their son’s restaurant, The Water Oak, for dinner Wednesday night. Go check it out online & if you’re ever in this part of NC, go! I had a cup of the best she crab soup outside of coastal SC as well as Scallops with risotto & asparagus. [flickr id=”5778910493″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

After spending $$ out Wednesday, we went for cheap & close by Thursday. We’d heard great things about Cafe at the Mall & I had the best sandwich {so good that I got it again to go on our way home Friday}. Although we’d sworn we would work out every day, Thursday was the first time we got the chance. I kicked my own butt running on the treadmill. We ran out in the rain to Walmart & the local Mexican restaurant, Mi Pueblito which was featuring $1.25 bud light drafts for dinner. [flickr id=”5778911101″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”] Then I *had* to finish my box wine {because you know you can’t leave wine behind!}.

I all but finished Unbroken this week staying up until 2 am Wednesday night because I couldn’t put it down. After packing up I read a little more Thursday & hope to finish it this weekend {I’ll post a review after book club  next week}. We drove back in the rain today & soon I’m on my way to meet up with my family in OIB.

I have to say, I wasn’t expecting much out of Forest City & it was definitely better than I thought! My FB coworkers were so nice & I’d definitely volunteer to work there again if there are any future storms.

Tornado After Effects

Thank God, our house and neighborhood were not damage by last Saturdays tornadoes. They were close by so Moe & I hit in the bedroom {close to the bathroom}. Then he fell asleep {clearly he wasn’t scared of the wind & rain}.

Sadly not everyone was so lucky. And the storms meant lots of claims for my company. As a former claims dept employee, I volunteered to go back to my old office to help. I got to the claims office before 745a & didn’t leave until after 630p today {which also meant no time for emails, twitter or blogs}. It was a long day but I think I got a lot of paper work done which freed up others to do claims work. I’m going back there again tomorrow. The claims dept is working Friday & Saturday too but we’re off the the beach! Working for the fun, my friends.
