Spring Planting

I certainly do not have a green thumb. It might be olive on the verge of brown, but I’m working on it!

I was inspired though after the weekend visiting my parents & I brought home some spring flowers to add color around our mailbox in between the day lilies. Here’s a phone I took from my phone right before Easter. They’re continuing to live & actually thriving! I’ll take another update photo later this week.
For Easter Nana gave me a knock out rose bush. I was nervous about roses. They sound hard! I was kinda thinking it wouldnt make it, but its survived the week so far! Tonight I replanted it into a bigger pot as per her instructions. I’ll take a photo of that soon to show my green thumb results!

Reader?

Do yall use reader to keep up with the blogs you follow or just click from links on your blog? I always link from links if I’m at home. But I’ve realized that google reader isn’t blocked at work! It’s so nice to take a five minute escape break from work and just see what my blogging buddies are doing.
Are there any other great blogging tools or tricks I might be missing out on?!

Jennandtonica’s Cheesy Sun Dried Tomato Bagels

The awesome Jennandtonica has made these twice for our Tacky Christmas Sweater Party. I was thought they’d be good to try with my family at the beach & she twittered me the recipe. I love the recipe~ not too many ingredients, quick & easy to make & oh so delicious!

Ingredients
3 Thomas 100% whole wheat Bagel Thins (Jenny’s used whole wheat mini bagels)
about 1 cup Italian 5 white cheese mix
about 1/2 cup light mayo
Julian Sun Dried Tomatoes sliced (Jenny uses TJ’s. We just got what Lowe’s had)

Directions
Turn on oven to broiler setting.
Split bagels & place on baking sheet.
If not precut, slice sun dried tomatoes.
Mix cheese with just enough mayo to make it stick together.
Top bagels with cheese mixture.
Add sun dried tomatoes to top of bagels.
Bake bagels until cheesy melted & bagels browned.

We quartered bagels into bite sized pieces. Everyone loved them just as I had when I’d had Jenny’s verison!
The bagels weren’t super crispy for us though. Not us if its because we sprayed the pan with pam or not cooked bagel enough. Jason suggested that we could try broiling bagel for a minute next time before topping. Might try that next time.

World’s Best Cat Litter?

I’ve been unhappy with the standard clay cat litter for a while now. We’ve kinda tried it all~ Arm & Hammer, Fresh Step, Petco’s brand, whatever Costco sells in huge tubs~ I like how well it clumps, but hate the smell & dust from it all. I am also the one who deals with the litter & don’t usually clean it but twice a week. I was on the look out for something new~ especially if I could get good deals on it at first.

I found a coupon a couple of weeks ago for pine shavings litter & bought it when Harris Teeter was doubling them. Showed it to hubby & he was less than impressed so I took it back.

I follow sue_stock on twitter and her blog mentioned getting World’s Best Cat Litter for free & then also listed a bunch of $3 & $4 off coupons. I talked to my brother who has multiple cats & he said they used something like this too. He & his girlfriend love that it’s FLUSHABLE! My first bag was free then got another one last week when they were on sale at Harris Teeter & I had a $3 coupon. I cleaned out Moe’s box & added the Litter last Wednesday. Its made of corn & I bought the clumping version. It looks like thicker clay litter but smells kinda like a cornfield. I was nervous at first because Moe didn’t seem to be a fan, but by Thursday he was using it and seemed ok with it.So far, I’m loving that it’s flushable. Makes it easy to just scoop out poop as I see it walking past that bathroom. I think it clumps almost as well as clay litter. There’s no dust, but Moe does track it a little when he jumps out of the box (he did that already though). I was going to take a photo to show yall~ but really who likes to see cat litter pics?!

First OIB Trip of 2010

I was about to title this post “First Beach Trip of 2010”, but I remembered that I’d been to FL. Oops! But OIB is “my” or even “our” beach since Jason & I got married around there. I CAN’T wait! Toes in the sand, freckles out, a few tan lines, & frosty drinks!! Also hoping to get in some reading time. The weather is supposed to be fabulous. I’ll try to take a few pictures.

Update with photo~ couldn’t resist posting this cute one (the only photo I took all weekend!) of Jason & Bocce. It’s so hard to keep Bocce still. This is the best we could do!So far this has been a good week for Jason & I. 🙂 I’ll update y’all on Jason’s work news & maybe car news next week. We also found out we’ll be getting money back on our taxes!
