Six Weeks!

So I’ve decided I’d go ahead a do a weekly update to remember thoughts, feelings & photos of this pregnancy. Not sure if they’ll be posted on Fridays or Saturdays but please keep coming back!

I'll get better at these self-portraits & make them less blurry. I promise!

Photo taken after an early morning, all day cheering on NCSU kicking UNC’s butt, hair’s gone up & make up laughed off. It’s more me & lots of water bloat than baby belly but it shows a kinda starting point. I’ll try to wear similar outfits as the weeks go by.

How Far Along? Six weeks today.

Maternity Clothes? nope.

Weight Gain? haven’t weighed myself in months. I don’t think anything  yet.

Stretch Marks? nope.

Sleep? good besides waking up at least once to pee.

Best Moment of the Week? y’alls reaction to my stick around post. So much love!

Movement? no.

Gender? no idea.

What I miss? at the NCSU game today, I kinda sorta almost missed Firefly as I smelled Kelly & Jessica’s drinks.

Symptoms: breasts full & tender {since before I poas}, tired by end of day, Wed day I experience “morning sickness” for the first time. I didn’t puke, but I gagged at my desk until I ate forkfuls of peanut butter.

What I’m looking forward to? Ultrasound this week!

Weekly Wisdom: Drink water. Get rest. Sharing news with friends is awesome.

Milestones: Six weeks! There should be a heart beat on the US!

Emotions: So happy. Twenty three {this TTC cycle} might be my new favorite number.

BlogHer Book Club: Theodora

BlogHer Book Club TheodoraI was about to type “I hadn’t read historical fiction much recently”, but I have. Although nothing this far back in history {probably since I read The Red Tent years ago}. The name Theodora was familiar to me ~ most likely from a flash back of a quick blip from a high school history book. I loved reading her story {albeit an amp’d up fictionalized version} in Theodora: Actress, Empress, Whore by Stella Duffy {doesn’t that title just make you wanna hear more?!}.

As a dancer {although not a great one}, I remember taking classes & being pushed to try to get into the right positions & stay there. I never {thank God} experienced teachers or mentors or the harsh conditions, pain, & discipline like Theodora but that beginning performing part of her life drew me in.

I’ve traveled some, but nothing like the ways she did & what she experienced in those strange lands. The language Stella Duffy used brought those locations to life. I enjoyed the Christian theology discussed & hearing Theodora’s faith journey. The early law & how laws created or done away with during those times effected our laws is kind of mind blowing.

I finished this book Sunday night & was almost sad it was over. I liked it so much I wanted to read more. Hear more about Theodora’s wild life, to know what happened next. Instead, I’m excited to read & comment about this novel with others on the Theodora BlogHer Book Club discussion page.

This was a paid review for BlogHer Book Club but the opinions expressed are my own.

Halloween Partyin’

I’ve seen everyone’s cute Halloween posts this week. Since it rained on Monday & we didn’t have a single trick-or-treater, I don’t have a post of that night. But Saturday night I dressed up, made my buffalo chicken {crack!} dip, & drove around the corner to my friends’ Halloween party.

I’d found the perfect costume online for me {Ketchup ~ by far my favorite condiment} as well as the paired Mustard tunic for the Husband. {Next year we’ll wear them again~maybe with future baby{s} as salt or salt & pepper?!!} Sadly, Jason worked late & I couldn’t convince him to join me at the party. With my new sober partier status, I was tired & didn’t stay as long as I’d have liked but long enough to take these fun photos of my work friends & their friends.

Halloween Party Costumes
Such creative costumes

Jenny aka the hostess with the mostess aka Jenny the Price is Right contestant aka Jenny one of two coworkers who knew my secret was having a great time. Her husband Matt {also my coworker} kicked ass as a seventies basketball player. Their house was decked out for the party. It was perfect.

My boss Roseanne & her boyfriend Trent went as the couple from Madame Butterfly. The other couples above were Jenny & Matt’s neighbors & friends. I loved the Flintstones & the Ohio State coach/cheerleader ideas.

Halloween Party Fun

My coworker Scott changed his mind last minute & showed up as a eighties work out dude {his costume had a battery powered fan in the back to keep it blown up!} while his girlfriend was a cute witch. My coworker Tammy {so creative! & crafty!} rocked as Rainbow Brite while her hubby Scott was a cowboy {maybe?}!

Cheers to Halloween!

There was a keg, jello shots & some honey whiskey brought out. I carried around a half empty solo of undrank beer then gave up trying & just had a cup of water. I think everyone in this crowd was having too much fun to notice. 😛

Project 365 Week 43

First, I’m so so humbled by the response to my “I’m pregnant” post {& really still getting used to typing “pregnant”}! Thank you!

I told some friends this week I’d considered giving up on project 365 & heard a resounding NO WAY! So here I am, back with week forty three. Can you believe that the days are into the 300s this week?!

Day 295: Saturday was my brother’s wedding. Here’s a photo I didn’t put in that wedding post. I love the onlookers, the helpers & the photographers as well as the gorgeous bride!

Day 296: Sunday Jason was so hungover we didn’t leave my parent’s house until late afternoon. Moekitty was thrilled to see him when we made in back home.

Happy family reunion

Day 297: After a blur of a day that began with a positive beta & ended in Charlotte with family dinner before my great-aunt’s funeral the next morning, I shared our news with my Papa & aunts over dinner which included this slice of strawberry cake.

Strawberry Cake
That's lime & marshmellow drizzled on the plate. You're drooling right?

Day 298: Between traveling, fondly remembering Virg, traveling back home & napping, I didn’t take any photos Tuesday.

Day 299: Thank goodness Jason took out the recycling Tuesday &  I think this photo of all his diet cokes over a couple day span prompted him to clean up Wednesday night. 🙂

Diet Coke
Diet Coke obession much? {no longer mine!}

Day 300: Thursday night meant girls night at Lynnwood! So happy that Poe shared one of these stuffed mushrooms with me. Also who knew how cheap eating out was when you don’t drink?! {not me til now!}

Day 301: My friend Rhiannon is getting married in December, about 15 of her friends celebrated with a night out downtown Friday. I got home & into bed after 1:30a, but I had a great time with the girls & people watching!
