Thirty Four Weeks

So as this is posting, I’m having labor induced & today will hopefully be the babies’ birthday. Jason took these photos of me Saturday afternoon.

{hospital bracelet, Kohls maternity gown}

How far along? 34w1d by my calculations, but the hospital considers the week switch on Sundays instead of Saturdays so they call me 34w this morning.

Maternity clothes? Yes, although all I’ve been wearing for past week is comfy maternity gowns. Since all are also nursing friendly, I think I’ll be in those & chill maternity bottoms for a while. {Big thanks to Seraphine for sending me this pretty nursing/maternity gown this week! & yes, my boobs are getting pre-babies huge!}

{33w6d in Seraphine gown, Target nursing bra}

Weight Gain? I was up 45 pounds as of Thursday two week ago’s doctor’s appointment. I’d guess I’ve gained some weight in the hospital & the belly does look bigger. I’m okay not knowing exact weight now though. 🙂

Stretch Marks? Yes, on both sides & I don’t care.

Sleep? Ambien works. The nights I’ve gone without it in the hospital, I’ve tossed & turned vs sleeping through the night.

Movement? Saturday the babies were so active ~ Zach had hiccups doing the morning monitoring & Lucy was kicking away all morning then again through the night monitoring. So  yes, lots of movement even though they’re running out of room.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Right now, my house, my cat, normal clothes. But I’ll see all of that soon.

Food cravings? Not a ton. Luckily I have had a lot of choices here in the hospital. My SIL did venture out to Trader Joe’s to get me Greek yogurt & hummus. So maybe that was this past week’s craving. Also cupcakes.

the Carolina blue icing was unfortunate though 🙂

The hospital ones aren’t quite Gigi’s but they’ve satisfied that craving {my friends B & K brought a Whole Foods cupcake when they came to visit Friday too}. Oh & the first food I order from the hospital menu post-babies is a big cold turkey sub!!

Food aversion? None really. I’m not always an Asian food fan, but as you can see from this photo, I’ve enjoyed General Tso’s chicken three times this week. Maybe the spicy food old wives tale works?!

{Sat dinner: Tortilla soup, General Tso’s chicken}

Labor signs? We learned Saturday night that Z is in -1 station super head down & that my cervix is thin/soft/effaced & between 2-3 cm dilated. It’s on y’all!

Belly button in or out? I might have to take a photo of the ‘after’ belly button. It’s so close to being out that I think I can say it’s out.

What I’m Looking Forward to? Babies! Today or tomorrow!

Symptoms? This week has been fairly symptom free {besides the near constant leaking fluid when I move, of course}. No swelling. The hospital meds have kept me heartburn free. Just a few contractions that I actually noticed.

Weekly Wisdom? Enjoy time with family. Be grateful for all the help offered &/or given. Focus on babies & your health first. Stressing does nothing to help.

Milestones? Making it to 34 weeks! Baby Center says 34w old babies usually weigh 4.75 pounds {the weight of a cantaloupe}, close to 18 inches long, & are getting fat layers to make them rounder. We’ll see what L & Z actually are really soon.

Thirty Three Weeks

Mom took these photos of me & the belly with my cell late Saturday night in my hospital room. I look tired, makeup free but happily still pregnant.

{hospital bracelet, Kohls maternity/nursing gown}

How far along? 33w2d by my calculations, but the hospital considers the week switch on Sundays instead of Saturdays so they call me 33w1d.

Maternity clothes? Yes. Beginning last Monday evening, I wore hospital provided attire. Then I learned mid-week that I could wear my own clothes if I wanted. While the Kohls by us didn’t have them, luckily Mom found a few maternity/nursing gowns with robes at her Kohls & brought them down Friday. We ordered another online so now I’m switching off wearing prettier gowns.

Weight Gain? I was up 45 pounds as of last Thursday’s doctor’s appointment. I haven’t been weighed since but think the belly might be a little bigger.

Stretch Marks? Yes, on both sides & I kinda don’t care.

Sleep? Sleep in the hospital at first was near impossible due to nurses checking in or giving meds every two hours. Now I’ve learned to ask for sleeping pill if I can’t sleep & they also don’t have to give me medicine over night.

Movement? I think just sitting here thinking about the babes has me hyper-aware of them. I feel her really often & he let’s me know he’s hanging out with a few kicks & punches too.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a still a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B {some of the nurses when they’re doing the heartbeat monitors will refer to Lucy as baby B; I’ve either corrected them or ignored it & said “her” or “Lucy”}. I randomly today told the husband I miss wearing jewelry. I took all mine off before we left for L&D Monday night. I think this is the longest I’ve gone without wearing a necklace/rings/earrings in years & years. I also miss Moekitty~ Jason’s been good about sending me fluffy kit photos though!

Food cravings? As you’ve probably seen from my instagram feed, the food here in the hospital is really good. But the Dairy Queen commercials are getting to me~ I’m sad there isn’t a DQ close by, but the hospital’s ice cream & milkshakes are hitting that spot. I was also kinda craving a Gigi’s cupcake yesterday. I ordered a cupcake with my lunch today & am hoping it tastes as good as it looks.

Food aversion? None really.

Labor signs? Zach’s water broke last Monday afternoon. So I’m now a PPROM {premature preterm rupture of membranes} patient on hospital bedrest. No other labor signs for the last week though {random little contractions but not active ones}. They’ll induce labor if I don’t go on my own by 5/20.

Belly button in or out? It’s popping more & more out but I’d still call it an innie.

What I’m Looking Forward to? A few more days of being pregnant {aka having ‘medically boring days’ as the MFMs wish me every morning}. Spending time with my SIL who’s on her way to hang out for a few days. Then a few days with my Nana. Then babies!!!!!

Symptoms? The swollen feet that have plagued me for weeks {months?!} disappeared being in a hospital bed. So nice to see my feet looking normal. The heartburn medicine they give me here has actually worked better than what I was previously on. I really feeling well.

Weekly Wisdom? A positive attitude really helps. A nurse told me yesterday, as I was mentioning how the days fly by & that it hasn’t been bad, how my attitude really does effect my bedrest stay. We open the blinds each morning, I brush my teeth/wash face etc & we’ve established a bit of a routine when it comes to showering & getting out of the room occasionally. I really think texting & social media {twitter, instagram, facebook & of course blogging} makes me still feel connected to friends too which really has helped.

Milestones? Still pregnant! Baby Center told me yesterday that the babies are about 4 pounds {weight of a pineapple} but we know they were that size over a week ago at our last ultrasound appt. Since they gain about a half pound a week, I’m guessing they’re more like 4.5 & 4.75 pounds now. Guess we’ll see for sure soon.

Thirty Two Weeks

Our big venturing out this weekend was to see The Avenger’s Saturday afternoon. I took these photos that evening after a post-movie nap.

{Motherhood top & maternity capris}

How far along? 32w2d

Maternity clothes? Yes, absolutely. I threw on a super long normal top for a Target run Sunday & it looked pathetic. All maternity all the time.

Weight Gain? I’m up 45 pounds as of Thursday’s doctor’s appointment.

Stretch Marks? Yes, they’ve arrived for sure on my right side.

Sleep? Pretty decent with the Snoogle, an extra pillow at my back & another pillow between my knees.

Movement? Yes, we have night owls who definitely make their presence known.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a still a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B; the right side of the belly is full of Baby A & the top of the belly is full of Baby C. It’s clear to me that Baby B would’ve been on the bottom left & the belly is soft there instead. As we’re getting really ready for A & C’s so soon arrivals, I know that while we could’ve handled three babies, God had other plans for us, & we continue to focus on being the best parents to L & Z as we possibly can.

Food cravings? Fruit, fries, grilled cheese.

Food aversion? I think those are gone. Although much to Husband’s chagrin, his favorite Chipolte still doesn’t sound good.

Labor signs? I think I’ve started experiencing BH contractions but no real ones or other labor signs.

Belly button in or out? It’s in but just barely. I’m guessing it’ll be a tiny outie before these babes arrive.

What I’m Looking Forward to? A girls’ night dinner tonight. A dentist appointment Thursday morning that I never thought I’d make it to pregnant. Attending my first LLL meeting Thursday night. Another relaxing weekend ahead.

Symptoms? In light of my dear friend Diana’s loss last week, I’ve been feeling emotional about this pregnancy & really trying to take all the crazy, crappy results of experiencing 32 weeks with multiples in stride. Swollen feet, exhaustion, belly discomfort, moodiness & heartburn, I’ll take it & appreciate it for what it means ~ growing big, healthy babies.

Weekly Wisdom? Appreciate what you have. Be prepared because you never know when these babes will make their appearance {hospital bag will be packed this week}.

Milestones? Baby Center has photo & facts for twins this week ~ it says the babies’ fingernails & toenails have grown in & they also have peach fuzz hair.

Thirty One Weeks

While my husband & mother-in-law put together nursery furniture this weekend {did you see how much is now checked off our to-do list?}, I rested & actually remembered to take photos on the 31 week day. I’ll post on the photos I took of the almost finished nursery later this week. For now, here’s me & the babies at 31w. I’m wearing the same top I did in my ten week update; the belly’s just a little bigger now, huh?!

{Gap maternity top & motherhood jeans}

How far along? 31w2d

Maternity clothes? Yes, & using husband’s T-shirts to sleep in as even my L ones no longer fit around the belly.

Weight Gain? I was weighed at the doctor a week & a half ago & I was up 43 pounds. Husband thinks I haven’t gained much more as I’m running out of space for food.

Stretch Marks? Yes, they’ve arrived.

Sleep? Still so thankful for the Snoogle & heartburn perscription that are helping me sleep now.

Movement? Yes, while they’re still most active in the evenings, I’m feeling kicks & punches during the day sometimes too.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a still a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B always. As noted at our maternity photo session Sunday, I can’t cross my legs. Crossing at the ankle is possible but kinda uncomfortable. Also miss wearing my wedding rings but being too frugal to go buy cheap fake ones.

Food cravings? I’ve eaten a lot of strawberries this week. Topping angel food cake & strawberry ice ceam with them as well as eating them on their own. Also have had PB&J {with squeezable grape jelly} almost every weekday for lunch for two weeks & it’s good!

Food aversion? I think those are gone. 🙂

Labor signs? Still none. I actually don’t think I’ve felt BH contractions either {which appears to be weird since I think they’re supposedly happening?}.

Belly button in or out? It’s an innie but a tiny corner on the bottom right side is starting to pop out.

What I’m Looking Forward to? My doctor’s appointment Thursday which is both a high resoltution growth scan ultrasound & an appt to check my stats. Hopefully all will go smoothly & we’ll both be there & be able to cover some questions we have with our MFM. I’m also looking forward to seeing how Z is now positioned. I have a feeling he’s no longer breech, but we’ll see for sure Thursday. I’m excited to see the proofs from yesterday’s maternity photo session. It was a last minute idea, but very fun! We have zero plans the next two weekends; I’m looking forward to resting & getting a few things done around the house.

Symptoms? Most annoying is my swollen feet. But I continuously remind myself how grateful I am to be pregnant in the first place & still pregnant at 31w. Ha! Funny story~ we figured out Friday night that I no longer can eat at a booth at Outback. The belly sticks out too far for me to fit!

Weekly Wisdom? Nesting instincts are real. My desire to have things ready for the babies weeks & weeks before they could arrive seemed a little wild even to me, but the husband agreed last night that it’s so nice to have all the furniture & big items taken care of so that we can relax & just finish up the little stuff before they arrive. Also, pregnant ladies, don’t feel bad sitting on the couch reading with your feet up while your hubby puts together furniture! Take advantage while you can!

Milestones? This week Baby Center tells me the babies are getting ready for a growth spurt & are filling out due to fat! 🙂

Thirty Weeks

I was tired after we got home from childbirth class Saturday & took a nap instead of photos. Yesterday, it was rainy & gross & I didn’t love my outfit so no photos either. Post-work, 30 week pregnant Suz…

{Gap maternity tunic turned top, Motherhood khakis}

How far along? 30w2d

Maternity clothes? Yes & even discovered this weekend that a few maternity tops are getting too short…

Weight Gain? I was weighed at the doctor Thursday. Up 43 pounds.

Stretch Marks? Yep. Lotioning up almost everyday but I think they’re just gettin’ bigger.

Sleep? Thanks to my new Snoogle & heartburn med perscription, much better. Although leg cramps kicked my butt left calf this weekend.

Movement? Yes. & this morning Z did something big. I kinda feel like he might’ve flipped back head down because it hurt kinda bad in the process {enough that I had to go lay down to catch my breathe}. And now I’m feeling kicks/punches in different places from him. She seems content transverse & gives me little kicks on the left side, punches in the middle & head nods in my right ribs to let me know.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a still a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B always. Cute summer shoes. Sitting comfortably.

Food cravings? I’ve once again gone through a lot of cereal this past week.

Food aversion? I think those are gone.

Labor signs? Still none. Bake another couple weeks babes!

Belly button in or out? It’s still an innie. Just barely.

What I’m Looking Forward to? We went to check out some rocker/recliners this weekend. Looking forward to having a big comfy chair for us & the babies. Hospital tour on Wednesday. MIL coming this weekend to help build & then set up nursery furniture.

Symptoms? Swollen feet & ankles got bad at the end of last week. Crazy huge marshmellow feet that tingled all the way up to my calves. Luckily the cooler weather of the past couple of days has the swelling at bay.

Weekly Wisdom? We went to a lot of pre-babies classes last week. It think it was great for us both & I really loved watching husband soak in the info then us talking about it later. We considered not taking childbirth or breastfeeding classes since they’re mostly focused on singletons, but I’m so glad we did. We also heard/saw the babies twice last week. Once at the hospital L&D Tues night with dopplers & then very briefly on ultrasound Thursday to get positions & heartbeats. We see/hear them so often that it’s almost routine but we try to remember that each time is cool & special.

Milestones? This week in the pregnancy starts with a 3 y’all! 30 weeks!! Baby Center says the babies should be around 3 pounds {but we know that’s what they were 2 weeks ago} & around 15.7 inches long. Baby Center talks about eye sight getting better this week too.
