What I’m Loving {first world mom edition}

It’s been a while since I’ve done a shopping post. Well it’s rare I’m shopping much at all except online these days!

But I love seeing what other bloggers are digging & thought I’d join in. This is completely unsponsored.

My new Lilly Pulitzer Chi Omega bracelet. lilly-chi-o-bracelet.JPGI was unable to pass it up during their summer sale. And I’m so glad I didn’t! I’ve found reasons to wear red/yellow/mint green since it arrived Thursday.

I’ve been going to the same salon for a couple times now, & they recommended {& had on sale} KMS Free Shape shampoo & conditioner. It was more expensive than my usual Target brand, but it feels like a delicious smelling luxury & makes my curls & color shine.

I’ve been loving a few moms of multiples resale Facebook pages recently. I’ve bought most of Lucy’s 18-24 mo & Zach’s 12-18 mo clothes from other MoMs. Including a new lot of Trumpette 12-24 mo socks. I’m obsessed & love that they’re gender neutral!

I haven’t hit purchase as I currently refuse to spent $25 for an outfit for Lucy when she has a closet full of 18 mo clothes I’ve super sale or consignment shopped for her. But oh my goodness I love the current owl line at Gymboree! Look at these ruffle leggings.wpid-IMG_20130823_113627.jpg

Lemonade. Random? Yes. But I think since I couldn’t handle lemonade while pregnant due to heart burn, I’m making up for it this summer. I like it pink, homemade, store bought &/or mixed with sweet tea. My current favorite is from Panera.

I am loving my current read: Stephen King’s 11/22/63. I’m also loving that my cubemate, dad & husband have all read it. So in addition to September’s book club chat, I’ve been one-sided {no spoilers!} chatting as I read along. I’m getting close to the end & can’t wait to see how it wraps up!

Whole Foods: it’s nicknamed Whole Paycheck for a reason, but if you’re in a rush & need a quick meal that you know is going to taste great, you can’t beat it. This week I went to Whole Foods for a to go dinner for a new mom friend & also left with breakfast muffins & a bean & cheese burrito lunch for myself. Loved every bite.

What’s your current obsession? Be it food, drink, clothes? I am missing something I will ‘need’ for fall?!

Badges of Honor

I had a breakfast mid-morning meeting & was getting together college friends for an after work happy hour last Thursday. I wanted to look nice for the day. So I got dressed in pants, heels & my nursing tank. I waited until after Zach & Lucy’s diaper & outfit changes & nursing sessions were complete before throwing on my sweater. But then, while bending down to get them ready to go into their car seats, both crawled over & grabbed me at the shoulders. As I pulled both in for hugs & kisses, I felt it. The dampness on my shoulders. I was marked.

I had ‘Mommy shoulders’. At that point, I had two options: change clothes & be late to work trying to figure out a new cute outfit, or two, wear my sweater anyways. I sighed & laughed & went with option two. Hoping my curly hair worn down & a fun grey necklace would take the spotlight.

My ‘Mommy shoulders’ are my current badges of honor. Proof that my struggles with infertility are over. Proof that all the hard work of TTC & a multiples pregnancy were worth it. I have babies that love & adore me as much as I do them. And if that means I go to work & sneak out to meet friends with drool on my sleeves & not my snot on my shoulders so be it. I wear them with laughter, love & pride.

Badges with Style

Like most employees now-a-days, I have a work badge. But I never wear it. It stays in my purse for a couple reasons. One, so I don’t lose it. Two, because the ugly black lanyard is well, ugly & as silly as it sounds, doesn’t always match. And three, the photo is over four years old & isn’t great. Four, while out on bedrest/maternity leave, I lost the clip & lanyard. “Luckily,” I still have my badge.

But we got an email from the higher ups this week, politely demanding asking reminding us to wear our badges. So I’ve been in search of a cute, cool way to wear my badge.

I found this fabric flower badge reel on etsy & ordered it in green with an etsy gift card I was given from my boss for Christmas {apropo right?}. I’m still thinking that after work, I’ll take it off {so the babies don’t pull or break it} & then forget it the following day.

Any other suggestions? How do you wear your badge? Do you care that it’s cute? {Linking up with Liberating Working Moms Working with Style}

Working with Style

Today’s my debut post joining the others on Liberating Working Moms in the Working with Style meme.

I’m sharing my new nursing mom style. Lots of my old favorite pants have made it into rotation {now that they fit again!} with tanks & few new things mixed in. Hope you’ll join me over on LWM.

Thirty Four Weeks

So as this is posting, I’m having labor induced & today will hopefully be the babies’ birthday. Jason took these photos of me Saturday afternoon.

{hospital bracelet, Kohls maternity gown}

How far along? 34w1d by my calculations, but the hospital considers the week switch on Sundays instead of Saturdays so they call me 34w this morning.

Maternity clothes? Yes, although all I’ve been wearing for past week is comfy maternity gowns. Since all are also nursing friendly, I think I’ll be in those & chill maternity bottoms for a while. {Big thanks to Seraphine for sending me this pretty nursing/maternity gown this week! & yes, my boobs are getting pre-babies huge!}

{33w6d in Seraphine gown, Target nursing bra}

Weight Gain? I was up 45 pounds as of Thursday two week ago’s doctor’s appointment. I’d guess I’ve gained some weight in the hospital & the belly does look bigger. I’m okay not knowing exact weight now though. 🙂

Stretch Marks? Yes, on both sides & I don’t care.

Sleep? Ambien works. The nights I’ve gone without it in the hospital, I’ve tossed & turned vs sleeping through the night.

Movement? Saturday the babies were so active ~ Zach had hiccups doing the morning monitoring & Lucy was kicking away all morning then again through the night monitoring. So  yes, lots of movement even though they’re running out of room.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Right now, my house, my cat, normal clothes. But I’ll see all of that soon.

Food cravings? Not a ton. Luckily I have had a lot of choices here in the hospital. My SIL did venture out to Trader Joe’s to get me Greek yogurt & hummus. So maybe that was this past week’s craving. Also cupcakes.

the Carolina blue icing was unfortunate though 🙂

The hospital ones aren’t quite Gigi’s but they’ve satisfied that craving {my friends B & K brought a Whole Foods cupcake when they came to visit Friday too}. Oh & the first food I order from the hospital menu post-babies is a big cold turkey sub!!

Food aversion? None really. I’m not always an Asian food fan, but as you can see from this photo, I’ve enjoyed General Tso’s chicken three times this week. Maybe the spicy food old wives tale works?!

{Sat dinner: Tortilla soup, General Tso’s chicken}

Labor signs? We learned Saturday night that Z is in -1 station super head down & that my cervix is thin/soft/effaced & between 2-3 cm dilated. It’s on y’all!

Belly button in or out? I might have to take a photo of the ‘after’ belly button. It’s so close to being out that I think I can say it’s out.

What I’m Looking Forward to? Babies! Today or tomorrow!

Symptoms? This week has been fairly symptom free {besides the near constant leaking fluid when I move, of course}. No swelling. The hospital meds have kept me heartburn free. Just a few contractions that I actually noticed.

Weekly Wisdom? Enjoy time with family. Be grateful for all the help offered &/or given. Focus on babies & your health first. Stressing does nothing to help.

Milestones? Making it to 34 weeks! Baby Center says 34w old babies usually weigh 4.75 pounds {the weight of a cantaloupe}, close to 18 inches long, & are getting fat layers to make them rounder. We’ll see what L & Z actually are really soon.
