The Belly

So there’s no longer two of us in my marriage. There’s the husband. Me. And then The Belly. Yes, at this point, it’s like a third person {well I guess really a third & fourth person technically}.

We refer to it separately in conversation. As in “The Belly just moved the pot handle on the stove”. Or “move forward a step so The Belly can walk behind you”. Or most frequently to my husband’s dismay, “move over in bed, The Belly needs more space”.

The Belly pops out of most of my sleeping shirts to make sure it’s presence is known throughout the night & in the morning. {guess I need to get a few maternity tanks since my normal tanks & Ts are no longer cutting it}

I say good night & give The Belly a rub before I fall asleep, just like I do for the husband. And I’ve caught the husband giving The Belly pats & hugs in the middle of the night or as he’s waking up.

And we’re not even going to go there in regards to other marital activities that The Belly is literally in the middle of…

I now keep my keyboard closer because The Belly doesn’t like to be leaned on. Thanks to The Belly, I sit in my work chair differently {more upright & legs more spread apart}.

The Belly is beginning to make a good little table. I can prop a book on it to read or a cookie to go along with my late night ice cream snack.

I think The Belly situation is hilarious. I can’t wait to see how much bigger it grows in the next 12-14 weeks! I’ll be sure to keep y’all posted on what The Belly does next!

There Was Something in That Water

at BlogHer that is. Remember how last August I went to San Diego & roomed with three semi-strangers new best e-buds for BlogHer? {like you could forget since I blogged the heck out of that trip}

Anyhoo. Miranda came home, peed on a stick, & boom, she was pregnant with New Girl to make her arrival soon.

A couple months later, Alena announced that she too was pregnant. Holden’s to make his entrance in just about 10 weeks.

Then there was me & the trips turned duo coming most likely in June. At this point, we were beginning to suspect something special.

We turned to Diana & said, “ok, you’re turn”. So she drank the water too {she’d perhaps brought home a bottle?} & next thing we knew she was pregnant! We warned @BlogHer then that something was up with our room!

Then today, Diana went to her first ultrasound at 9 weeks and super boom, it’s TWINS!

Four roommates, expecting six babies between April & August. We are so excited!

FYI to those not trying to get KU in 2012/2013, don’t drink the water at BlogHer this summer… just sayin’.

Twenty One Weeks

I forgot to take a photo before dinner, but I did remember to take one afterwards! Lots of belly!

{ATL cardigan, ATL ruffle top & target jeans}

How far along? 21w

Maternity clothes? Yes! All maternity all the time.

Weight Gain? I haven’t weighed myself & they haven’t weighed me the last couple of doctor’s visits, so I’m not sure. I’ll be weighed at the OB appointment on the 27th.

Stretch Marks? none yet.

Sleep? Pretty good this week.

Movement? When I slow down, I can feel them & I love it. I’ve also noticed that when baby C pops her head around, my belly gets lop-sided at the top right {enough that my friends noticed today}.

Genders? A is a boy & C is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B always. Having a ton of energy. Not having to keep a tight eating schedule.

Food cravings? Been loving the Gigi’s cupcakes leftover from last weekend’s shower. Also love fruit.

Food aversion? Still don’t love the Mexican restaurant idea but it’s not as gross sounding as before.

Labor signs? No, thankfully.

Belly button in or out? Still an innie but starting to look kinda like a crater.

What I’m Looking Forward to? Enjoyed spending time with {mostly former} coworkers today at a smaller shower today for the babies {will blog about it later this week}. Looking forward to a chill rest of this weekend, our vehicles hopefully being sold soon, getting the to-be-nursery cleaned out to make room for us to decorate & organize the nursery!

Weekly Wisdom? If you’re tired, listen to you body & rest. I was exhausted Wednesday at work. I put my head down at my desk for 15 minutes around 230, came home & slept from 530-730 then went back to bed at 1030. Clearly I needed sleep!

Milestones? According to Baby Center, the babies are around 10.5 inches long {the length of a big carrot} & have grown eye lids & eye brows this week.

Owl Baby Shower

The babies & I were celebrated this past weekend with our first babies shower. It was hosted by four of my best college friends, Kelly, B, Beth & Cheryl.Owl baby shower hostessesThe ladies worked their butts off & everything was perfect ~ from the invites & decor to the food & drinks. They served fruit skewers, chicken salad rolls, pimento cheese sandwiches, spinach dip, & veggies. We had lime & lemon flavored water as well as the best punch! And mini Gigi’s cupcakes for dessert while playing the “guess how big around Suz is” string game {Nana won!} & then I opened gifts.owl baby shower foodSo many gifts! Our family & friends have really spoiled the babies already. My SIL made two cloth diaper wreaths for the babies! They’re too pretty to use & are currently hanging on the nursery doors.owl baby gifts & wreathMost of these friends are from my college Chi Omega days, so owl themed gifts were galore! A homemade owl blanket from my friend Sarah, big stuffed owl & framed owl from my aunts, owl bib & humidifier as well as a fabulous ΧΩ onesie from Kim, owl baby hats from Steph, owl burp cloths from Kristen, an owl changing pad cover from Mom & Nana, an owl Boppy from B’s mom,  & even an owl lovey from Jessica!

All the Chi Os, the basket full of books, me & the hostesses, & Lily left with all the balloons!

The special hostesses came up with the idea for the guests to bring signed books for the babies instead of cards. Kelly made a “books” sign for a pretty basket & we put all the books in there. My mom & Jason’s mom actually gave us a bunch of the books we read & loved as children. That was so special! The whole day was special. I can’t wait to see the babies using, playing, wearing all the gifts & for my friends to meet the babes!

So What Now?

Now that it’s two. What’s changed you might ask? A lot & not much at the same time. I still feel the same. I still look the same. For now, I’m still eating & drinking the same.

We still sold my small SUV this week in planning to get a bigger SUV to handle our expanding family. I’m still thankful & loving the hand-me-downs from friends. I’m still looking forward to celebrating the babies at our first shower next weekend.

My parents had the third crib still in a box at their house {we’d picked it up from a Walmart up there & didn’t have room to carry it home}. With a copy of the receipt, Mom will be taking that back next week. The crib set she’d bought for us as the third, she was going to take back as well but then we decided she could set it up in a crib she had already put in our at home bedroom for our visits.

We haven’t started setting up the nursery yet, but it’ll still be green & neutral & owl-filled. I now think we’ll now have room for a bigger glider/rocker & maybe a book case.

We now have an extra car seat & extra bases, but with two, our parents’ & my grandparents’ cars will be able to fit them when visiting. I’ve updated our Target & Buy Buy Baby registries switching all 3’s of items of 2’s of items. But as I was saying on twitter last night, I’ m still attached to & registered for too many of a few things like hooded towels & baby crib sheets {but they’re so cute!}.

My doctor told us Tuesday that our new delivery goal is 36+ weeks & that I’d be able to continue working for longer if not the whole time. He said he’d induce me if I’m still pregnant at 38 weeks. My MFM even said vaginal delivery could be an option if they’re in the right positions. I asked if I needed to change anything from what I’m currently doing & he said no.

I’m still planning to attend my first local mom’s of twins & triplets meeting on Thursday night. I’m looking forward to meeting local multiples mommas, but I’m not sure what to call myself now.

I’m still sad. I’m not over the loss of baby B & that “triplets” won’t be what the outside world will think when they see my future outside babies. I can’t use the word “twins” yet but am realizing that’s what family are already starting to do. I didn’t correct my aunt & the Target lady yesterday when “I’m having two babies” became “Twins! That’s awesome”. I won’t correct everyone, but yesterday I was fighting back inside my head yelling “no, it should be triplets”.

But I’m staying busy, focusing on the positives & babies A & C. And 99% of the time {nights & early mornings are a lil tough}, I’m doing great.
