Bloggy Shopping Night

As I’d mentioned in my project 365 post, last Thursday I met up with some other Raleigh bloggers for a night of after-hours shopping {& chatting & a lil wine drinking} at Clothes Hound. It was great to reconnect with Erin & Melissa. I really enjoyed meeting Elizabeth, Molly, & Malise. [flickr id=”5976630144″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Clothes Hound {which just moved from online only to a boutique in N Raleigh} stayed open late just for us & even rolled out the pink carpet. It’s such a cute shop with so many fun party clothes & accessories. We all tried on a few things. My favorites {& what I brought home with me} were this $18 owl ring & the big center gold earrings which were only $12! Thanks Erin for inviting me. So much fun! Looking forward to hopefully seeing everyone again soon.

Expect the Unexpected

That should be the theme for the last twenty TTC cycles: expect the unexpected {yes, I’m borrowing Big Brother’s theme & don’t hate, there’s not much on TV in the summer}.

I’m not trying to sound pretentious when I say that things have typically come pretty easy for me. When I’ve wanted something, with a little hard work, I usually have gotten it. Of course I’ve had ups & downs & the usual drama of life, but over all I know {& appreciate} that I’ve had it good. HS, sports, college, husband, work, friends; yep, all there.  Based on that & our genetic history, I went into TTC thinking this would follow the trend & be fun & quick & easy with just a little work. Not so much. If I’ve learned anything in these twenty cycles it’s that I’m not in charge, I’ve gotta be patient, & I’ve gotta throw my expectations out the window.

I like being in charge. I like knowing what’s next. I hate surprises {take note bc the big 3-0 is coming soon}. I love making plans & lists & filling in a calendar. All of these things do not go well with TTC & infertility. Infertility means never being in charge. Your body & God are making all the moves. I’m just trying to keep up.

Within the last couple of weeks, I’ve found myself getting snappy at work. Annoyed with any interruptions; even the normal this-is-part-of-my-job interruptions have made me lose patience & get frustrated. I know this has nothing to do with the agents that are calling me or the coworkers talking about their children. It’s me. Wanting what I don’t have & losing patience that it’s not ours right.now. I’ve been going to God recently for patience. {I promise I’m not trying to turn this into an annoyingly religious rant} but just a quick {inside my head} shout out for patience calms me. That & a glass of wine once I’m home at night.

I expected we’d have a baby by now. Hell, I even though we’d have a toddler by now. Instead this morning, after a weekend of follistim injections, I had my cycle day 10 ultrasound. Last cycle, at this same day’s ultrasound, I had six visible follicles, did one more night of follistim along with antagon then ovidrel the following night. I was expecting something similar. Instead this morning’s US found I had one really big follicle {22.5} as well as one smaller one {14} on my right side & nothing on my left. The tech said ovridrel tonight & ovulation Wednesday morning. The antagon I spent $50 on last week is not being used. The extra 600 IUs of follistim I expected to need {& that cost $100} sit unopened in my frig. I don’t need them for this cycle, but I’m holding on to both for now. Thinking, hoping, praying I won’t need them next month but who knows. I’m learning to expect the unexpected.

Week 28 Project 365

Busy week of blog posting for me means I had time to be online & not much of a IRL life this week!

Day 197: You saw my outfit & photos from Saturday in my WIWW post. Yay for haircuts & highlights & double yay for Harry Potter movie date. [flickr id=”5963158518″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Day 198: I spent another day at the pool Sunday. This time alone except for my Hunger Games book which I almost finished in one day. {book post to come} I did cut my nails off & painted them Essie’s Cute as a Button. Cute right?! [flickr id=”5963158184″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Day 199: I went to work late Monday since I had a early RE appointment & thus worked late to make up the time. Then I ran to the pharmacy, monogramming store & jogged at Lake Lynn. Then cooked rotisserie chicken & veggies for dinner. In all that busyness, I didn’t take a photo.

Day 200: I rushed home after work & plopped on the couch & finished Hunger Games Tuesday. We just had turkey sandwiches for dinner because who has time to cook {or take pictures} when there’s young adult fiction to read?!

Day 201: Wednesday, I stopped by Target {aka the $100 store} after work. I picked up a few things to wear this weekend & in San Diego. I dorked it up & had Jason take photos of me in my planned BlogHer outfits to share with my roomies. {I was the third of us to do so ~ it’s not just me with the BH fever!} Not sure I want to give away my outfits, but here’s my new shoes! {yes, same ones as Miranda ~ we’ll be shoe twins} [flickr id=”5962601819″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Day 202: Thursday night @ErinCLane invited me & some other awesome Raleigh bloggers to a wine & shipping night at Clothes Hound. Here’s a preview photo of the beautiful jewelry tree with Erin & Elizabeth in the background {more to come in their own post next week}. [flickr id=”5962602249″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Day 203: Friday we traveled up to my parents’ house for the weekend. The first of my brother & sister-in-law-to-be’s wedding showers is Saturday {post to come next week}. My-view-on-85 photo: [flickr id=”5971824673″ thumbnail=”medium” overlay=”true” size=”medium” group=”” align=”center”]

Going to BlogHer part five {guest post}

Welcome back to my Going to BlogHer, now what? series! {Did you miss Alena’s post about roommates?}

It’s getting to be crunch time, so I’m featuring Miranda from Not Super…Just Mom‘s post today. I was so happy when Miranda joined up with Alena & I as roomies then even more excited as I’ve gotten to know her online. After seeing her & hearing her sweet southern voice via Skype last week, I really can’t wait to meet her & I bet you already love her too, right?

In theory my head I am an awesome, seasoned traveler.

Staying in hotels (even the dumpy ones) is fun. The little soaps and shampoos and neatly folded towels! The freshly made beds every day! Free pens! Traveling is an adventure!

I sound eye-rolling ridiculous, right? Right. I know. ::sigh::

We didn’t travel much when I was a kid. If we did, it was from one corner of the state to the other to visit family. We never went on single family vacation. We never stayed in a hotel (except that time we lived in one…) It just wasn’t in the budget. Ever.

Since virtual reality machines don’t count, I’ve only been on a plane three times. (If you count round-trip flights as one ride, that is. Six times if you don’t. And eight if you count the plane changes on my Honeymoon.)

In just over two weeks from the time I’m writing this (Monday night, a full three days AFTER I said I’d have this done, in case you were wondering) I will be boarding a plane to head west to California. Farther west than I have ever been.

Despite any notions of adventure, I’m not accustomed to traveling and there are things about this adventure that terrify me.

Things like, should I leave my car at the park-and-ride for an entire weekend? Will it be safe?

Are the TSA agents going to laugh at my mom-flab when they see it on the scanner? Will I have to get all up-close-and-personal with one of them in the name of my protection?

I am also paralyzed with fear at the idea of taking my southern accent and pearl earrings across the Mississippi. I feel all country-mouse-goes-to-the-city when I think too much about this conference.

But the excitement of traveling to a new place is like crack that I just cannot quit.

That is how this whole BlogHer trip has become for me. Crack.

I’m excited to breathe new, Pacific-coast air. I’m excited to meet new people. I’m excited to attend parties and wear dresses! Hell, I’m mostly just excited to wear clothes that don’t have drool stains and toddler snot on the shoulder!

I’m excited to learn things about how I can do this whole blogging thing a little better than I am doing it now.

How many more days do I have?

I’m looking forward to that Pacific coast air too, Miranda & a hug from you in a week & a half! & no worries, BlogHer has become my crack too! Anyone else?!

Be sure to keep up with Miranda’s BlogHer {& other} adventures on her blog & also on twitter as @notsuperjustmom. & come back next Wednesday for my third roomie’s post!

Last week was so fun that I thought I’d try linking up with Lindsey‘s What I wore Wednesday again.
