Infertility & Marriage

This has been on my mind this week. You know how “they” say, “distance makes the heart grow fonder”. It’s true. Three weeks away from husband in the past five weeks & he’s worked those weekends that I have been home. I’ve missed him & am glad we have next couple weekends together.

That said. What I’ve really been thinking about is how infertility, really TTC in general, changes a marriage. Some of the changes are good. Some are
bad. Some are just changes.

I’m less naive & maybe more cynical. Husband has always been a bit of both. I guess we now mesh well in that area.

There’s times when I look at Jason with Moekitty or around other kids & my heart swells with love & bursts with sadness that I haven’t been able to give us that future baby yet.

Infertility has forced us both to be patient. We knew things happen in God’s time, not ours, but it’s the working through months of waiting & trying that test that mindset and is something that’s been in my thoughts & prayers a lot recently. We learned to be patient with each other, with doctors, with our bodies & what they do or don’t do.

There have been times I look at Husband as the “giver of the buddies” more than the beloved husband. He’s good at calling me on that one ~ and I’m glad when he does & snaps me back from being that infertile-zilla {you know, like a bride-zilla but for the wanna-be-baby-maker}.

Infertility has made us speak more deeply. About our future hopes & dreams. About our ideas in baby-raising. About finances. About just how far we’re willing to go to have a child. Tough conversations but oh so important ones.

These & all the over changes I’ve mistakenly left off this list will make it even the more sweet when that long awaited BFP occurs.

I missed last Friday as an Infertile Friday {I was a little busy at my brother’s wedding}. So I’m calling this Infertile Monday. How is/has/did TTC &/or infertility change your marriage?

Scotch-Brite Disinfecting Wipes {giveaway}

You’ve probably gathered that I’m not much of a cleaner. I know there are those who relax & unwind by cleaning. That’s not me. {I’m friends with some of those girls & still do.not.get.it.}. After being gone for two weeks, I came home to a mess. I ignored it Sunday & Monday, but I could no longer avoid the filth tonight.

So cleaning is just something that has to be done in my household, but I love when I find things that simplify the dreaded task. When it comes to cleaning products I also struggle with is balancing price & making sure it’s safe for Moekitty & the environment.

I love disinfecting wipes. They make cleaning kitchen & bathroom counter tops so much easier. I’d kinda guessed the ones I’d been using weren’t so environmentally or pet-friendly. So I’d switched to greener bottled cleaners but missed the ease of the wipes.

Welcome to my life Scotch-Brite’s new Botanical Disinfecting Wipes. They’re priced so they’re easy on the wallet {less than $2.50 for 35 at Walmart}. I love that they’re Moekitty safe & I know they’re kid-friendly as well. That they smell all fresh & clean {mine are lemongrass scented} & don’t require after-use rinsing, makes them all the better. Seriously y’all, my kitchen & bathrooms thanked me for the attention. I thought about posting before & after shots but the befores were too embarrassing!

Hello box of cleaning & organizing fun!

Scotch-Brite wants one of you to try their new Disinfecting Wipes too & will send what they’re calling a “Celebrate the New School Year” gift basket to one of my lucky readers! The box will be just like mine above~ filled not only with the Wipes but also a Post-it block, Post-it durable tabs, Post-it flag highlights, & Post-it flag pens.

To enter, leave a comment letting me know when/where is your favorite place to clean.

For an extra entry, follow @suzstreats & @scotchbrite_3M & tweet “Enter to win a back-to-school basket #giveaway from @scotchbrite_3M & @suzstreats at http://tinyurl.com/67juj6g.”

I will draw the winner using random.org next Wednesday morning at 8am EST. I will contact the winner via email & twitter so that Scotch-Brite can send the winner the basket directly. If no reply within 48 hours, I will pick a new winner.

You can always follow Suz’s Treats &/or Scotch-Brite on Facebook. I found that Scotch-Brite is currently offering a $.50 off coupon & you can also learn more about the Disinfecting Wipes on their site. Thanks for entering & good luck. Happy cleaning!

Scotch-Brite sent me the same back-to-school basket as the winner will receive, so I could try & review their new disinfecting wipes. My thoughts, opinions & crappy photos are all my own.

Hurricane Party Girls Night In

Fourteen women, old friends, new friends, all online to now in real life friends. We said Hurricane Irene be damned & gathered anyways. For food, drinks, lots of laughs, hugs, stories, shellac manicures & much needed girl time. Hurricane Girls Night

I didn’t take as many photos as normal. Once the big guns aka professional cameras were pulled out by Jenn, Spoe & EB, my lil DSLR got intimidated & sat unused for the rest of the night. Brandy, Marie, BA & I still practiced & played around with ideas & EB’s awesome new lens.

That &/or I was too busy drinking & talking & getting my nails Shellac’d by EB to take photos. You pick the reason!

After a short night on an air mattress with the Mrs, I awoke to eat the heck out of Jenn’s boy bait, my honey bun cake & then EB’s potatoes. We also passed K’s Nolan all around & laughed out loud at BA’s Harrison signing “more” & “more” for K’s Gigi cupcake! Hurricane Irene Girls Night

I can’t think of a better way to spend a hurricane Saturday night. I’m looking forward to hopefully getting together with these fabulous friends again soon!

Summer TV Loves

Summer TV. It’s supposed to be slim to none, right? All your favorite your fall & spring shows are on hiatus, so what do you do? If you love TV as much as we do, you fall in love with new shows or maybe just get rehooked on the awesomely bad ones. In case you need more summer TV, here’s my current top 10 favorites & why {in no particular order}.

1~ Suits ~ New TBS show featuring charming kinda bad-ass NYC lawyer guys in nice suits. Enough said.

2~ Bachelorette/Bachelor Pad ~ You all know this is absolute crap, brainless TV. Perfect with a glass of wine to unwind after a crazy Monday at work. And my coworkers & I love to dish about it Tuesday mornings.

3~ Real World/Road Rules Challenge ~ I’ve been a RW fan since the nineties & I’ve never grown out of loving to watch them fight/make up/make out/battle each other. The challenges are all I still watch as a summer splurge.

4~ Big Brother ~ Every year, I say I’m done & won’t get sucked into three hours of this show a week. Then this year they bring back sweet Jordan & Jeff, the over-dramatic Rachel & Brendan, & Danielle & Evil Dick, and I can’t wait until Wed, Thurs & Sunday nights.

5~ Expedition Impossible ~ It’s Survivor meeting Amazing Race. The 3 people groups include pro football players, California girls, county boys, & a cute southern-accented dad who’s BFF is blind & they’re kicking butt against them all.

6~ Burn Notice ~ Jason loves the action & looking at Phee {when he’s not hoping they kill her off}. Michael Weston & his nice guy spy-ness are what keeps me coming back.

7~ So You Think You Can Dance ~ I danced from age 5-18. I never could’ve made it onto SYTYCD, but I love watching the choreographers, the dancers, makeup & costumes. Sadly I’ve missed a few episodes this year & still not watched the one from last week.

8~ Covert Affairs ~ I adored the cheesy Coyote Ugly with Piper Perabo, so when I heard that she was the lead character in this CIA drama last summer, I talked Jason into watching it. We’re fans of the show, but it’s not on our have-to-watch-this-immediately list.

9~ Falling Skies ~ This is definitely a “guy” show. Alien species invades Earth & steals & harnesses children. But it’s the people & family side of it that has me coming back. Except that I’ve learned I can’t watch this last thing at night without having scary dreams. I also have loved Noah Wyle since his way early ER days.

10~ Royal Pains ~ We both love these characters & the premise of the show. It’s fun & a not-so-stressful medical drama. Love the beach setting for a summer series.

Do you watch any of my summer guilty pleasures? What summer series is missing from my life?

Week Night Fun

Monday night I met some friends for drinks & dinner at a local restaurant. We set outside as the sunset around us. We shared beers, laughter, pickle chips, salads & meaty sandwiches. Some claim my photos show their bitch face, but I see smiles too!

I had another round of photography class Wednesday night with Brandy & Dawn. Brandy provide many faces & poses as I practiced on manual mode. I also played with focus & metering while loving on Dawn & her bracelet & D7000.

So much fun at the beginning of the week means I’m laying low to end out the week.
