Lucy: Seven Months

Oh our Lucy girl. She’s such a joy. I’m about writing this a week late because we’ve been busy celebrating the Christmas holiday with family. Lucy & Zach too have been spoiled with love & hugs & kisses this week. I’ll post about their first Christmas soon. Back to Lucy girl.

I weighed us on her month day & she’s about 17 pounds now. We’re still putting 6 month clothes on her, but in cloth diapers they’re getting tight. I hit up after Christmas sales at the children’s place & bought my baby 9-12 mo clothes. Crazy how quick she’s growing.

She’s almost sitting independently & very very very close to crawling. She loves to move the little beads across the bar on the exersauser. She likes us singing, reading, bouncing & dancing! She’s getting good at standing too.

Lucy often gets attacked by the sock monster & is thrilled when she finds herself sock less. It’s then that she can most easily grab her toes & stuff them in her mouth!

Lucy’s still a fabulous nurser and she’s learned to help hold her 5 oz bottles. She eats every 3-4 hours. We started her with solids right after their 6 mo appointment & she is not a fan. It’s like shes personally offended I’m not giving her the boob. She has tolerated bananas & kinda like the peas we tried this week.

She continues to do a good job sleeping. Typically waking up once a night for a quick nursing session. She still takes smaller naps.

Lucy experienced her first (since postNICU) antibiotics  during the past month when she had hand foot mouth & an eye infection. She handled both the eye drops & dealing with the blisters on her hands, feet & bottom like a champ.

Happy {super late} seven months baby girl! Here’s hoping the sweet Santa outfit photos from your month day make it off the camera & on here before your eight month post!

Zach: Seven Months

Our Zach. He’s Mommy’s boy for sure. He likes others: his daycare ladies, his Daddy, his Pops & Cici. But if he’s the least bit tired, hungry, or sees me while being held by someone else, he’s arms out whining until I scoop his lil booty up.

Zach sleeps pretty well. He continues to take two naps at daycare. And he usually sleeps from 830-7a getting up once or twice a night for nursing & snuggling. His favorite is to sleep on us on the couch or cuddling with me in bed 4a on, but we try to not have that happen much.

And speaking of little booty, I weighed him on his month day & he was exactly 14 pounds. I’ve transitioned him to size 2 in his Huggies naturals & he’s a size two in the honest co disposables we’re trying too.

He still fits girth size in 3 month clothes, but one piece outfits look like capris. I’ve been retiring them to pass down. And I’ve been putting him in 3-6 mo & introducing 6 more clothes. Our stash of hand-me-downs has dwindled, but I found some Carter’s deals I’m looking forward to him wearing.

Zach recently had his first high fever & doses of baby Tylenol. I’m pretty sure he had hand foot mouth only in his month. It occurred just days after his sister’s bout of it & just a day after getting his first two bottom teeth! The left front bottom popped out the Sat after I saw the right tooth Fri afternoon. It was quite a busy few days.

Zach is all but sitting unassisted. He gets into crawling position but hasn’t made any moves yet. Zachy discovered his feet within the last couple weeks but still likes eating his fingers best. He loves reading books, the birdy on the exersauser, & of course, his monkey wubba.

He loves reaching for our food. I can no longer eat while he nurses. He’s still nursing well {besides the days he had a fever}. We’ve upped his bottles to 5 oz of fortified breast milk after his daycare teachers saying he still seemed hungry after 4.5 oz. Over the last week, we stopped the zantac reflux medicine & haven’t noticed him having reflux issues.

We started solids right after Thanksgiving. First rice cereal {not a fan}, then when Mom was down a couple weekends later, I made avocado, sweet potato & banana baby food in the baby bullet. Zach loves avocado! He’s okay about the other two. I have plans to try him with organic purchased pouches & jar food over the Christmas holiday.

Happy 7 months my littlest buddy! {Will add photos soon}

Snack Day Recipes

My work had their annual ‘snack day’ last Thursday. It’s a 60 person pot luck which equates to an all day eating feast!

I brought in cranberry white chocolate cookies that I’ve made for years because they’re delicious & look festive for the holdiays.

There were lots of biscuits, cookies, cupcakes, donuts, sausage balls & meatballs. But what stole the show for me was the two recipes below. I begged for the recipes before 10 am & just had to share {plus posting them helps me remember the recipe}!

Fiesta Dip

8oz cream cheese, softened
16 oz sour cream
11 oz can sweet yellow & white corn, drained
15 oz can black beans, drained & rinsed
10 oz can diced tomatoes with green chiles, drained
1 1/2 tbsp taco seasoning
2 c shredded sharp cheddar cheese

I love the easy directions. Just dump it all together, mix it up & cover for at least 24 hours. It can be served cold or warm with tortilla chips. It had just the right hint of spicy to counter all the sweet dips & cookies I’d eaten that day. Perfect for any event.

Chicken Salsa Wraps

1 can chicken, shredded
1 container garden veggie cream cheese
1/2 c thick & chunky salsa
tortillas

Mix the chicken, cream cheese & salsa together in a small bowl. Spread thin layer on tortilla. Roll up the tortilla & slice in approximately 1 inch pieces. My coworker served them with extra salsa on the side & red & green tortilla chips!

Meeting Santa

We braved the mall crowd the first Saturday in Dec to have the babies meet Santa for the first time. My MIL came with us to help & check out the photos.

Lucy & Zach taking it all in.

This was the first time they’d been to the mall & their first time in a side by side stroller. Santa arrived at 11a. We planned to show up then, but Lucy girl pooped twice {just as we were leaving the house & again in the van on the way over} but thankfully didn’t get anything on her outfit.

Jason, L & Z with Santa decorations {& the super excited kiddo in front of us in line photo bombing}.

They did great waiting in line for about an hour ~ they smiled at us, the decorations, the others in line.

Then we got up to Santa. Zach was fascinated with the big guy & wouldn’t take his eyes away from him. Lucy was fascinated with his outfit, until she discovered his {real} white beard. She grabbed onto the beard & didn’t want to let go! There were no smiles for us {& the camera lady}. But there were also no tears!

Zach & Lucy, meet Santa!

And we got great memories of it all digitally thanks to my MIL.
