Twenty Nine Weeks

I took these photos after we got home from childbirth class Saturday.

{Gap maternity top, Motherhood full-panel! shorts}

How far along? 29w3d

Maternity clothes? Yes, except for the occasional longer top I squeeze into.

Weight Gain? I haven’t been weighed in a couple weeks, but I think closing in on 40 lbs.

Stretch Marks? Yep. Definitely on right side & few dots growing on left side. I’m lotioning like crazy, but I don’t think that’ll help much.

Sleep? Grrr. Not great this week between heartburn, sore pelvic bone & hips, & getting up to pee. I brushed off the suggestions for a Snoogle months ago but gave in yesterday morning & we ordered one off Amazon. Hopefully it’ll help with above & to get rid of a few of the 5+ pillows I’ve been sleeping with.

Movement? Yes. Although since Z flipped head up, I feel him less & L much more.

Genders? Baby A, Zach, is a still a boy & C, Lucy, is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B always. Ability to eat whatever without paying for it later with heartburn. My old spring/summer wardrobe.

Food cravings? Harris Teeter blueberry muffins were on sale last week. I sent Jason back Saturday for a second box. Guess that counts as a craving right?

Food aversion? None really. Although cooking doesn’t sound great.

Labor signs? None, thankfully. and we know more of them since our first childbirth class!

Belly button in or out? Still in but beginning to be able to see the end of it.

What I’m Looking Forward to? Checking things off the to do list. Our upcoming classes {breastfeeding, cloth diapering & childbirth} this week. Our appointment Thursday with the MFM.

Symptoms? Think of a pregnancy symptom. I’ve probably got it. I said I wanted to experience it all since I’m only going to be pregnant once. I guess meant it! 😛

Weekly Wisdom? Gather & learn all the knowledge you can. Then take it & make decisions best for your family together with your partner.

Milestones? We passed the 28w1d mark and have flown into 29w. Baby Center says at 29 weeks the babies weigh 2.5 lbs, but we know from the 28 week appt that our “big” babies are already more than that {yay!}. Their brains {& thus heads} are growing & bones are soaking up calcium {good thing I’m loving cereal, yogurt & cheese sticks}.

Prebabies To Do List

Since y’all can keep & hold me accountable, I thought I’d post this list here. It’ll also help my pregnant brain remember! I’m sure there’s more we need to add, but it’ll be nice to be able to follow up & virtually check things off this list! 7 weeks to go until our 36 week goal date! We got a few things accomplished this weekend, so I’m updating it already!

Sell 3 2 vehicles. Get Jason new car.

Remove computer & desk from nursery. Have TWC or AT&T fix internet spot {Wednesday}.

Put together & set up cribs in nursery. Set up dresser/changing table. Put diapers & sleepers in it.

Wash remaining blankets, crib pads, wash cloths, hooded towels & organize linen closet.

Trip to Buy Buy Baby: Buy second crib mattress, changing pad covers & crib tent.

Move den changing table to final location. Make room for hand-me-down rocker in den. Remove pile of baby things in corner. Put 3 mo clothes bins on top of babies closet. Move organizer into that corner. Set up packnplay in our room.

Clean out garage. Make place for second frig/freezer in garage.

Put carseats in van. Get ok’d from fire station.

Organize nursery making room for skinny chest from Mom & Dad’s. Put tiny baby stuff {socks, mittens, pants, shorts, bloomers} in that chest. Make room for & purchase glider for nursery {started looking this weekend}.

Set up video monitor. Buy second video monitor camera {Trip to Babies R Us}?

Childbirth class 4/14 & 4/21

Breastfeeding class 4/18. Finish reading Mothering Multiples. Attend LLL meeting?

Cloth Diaper class 4/19. Wash new cloth diapers. Buy few more cloth diaper covers.

Pack hospital bag.

Just a few things to do in the next couple weeks right?! 😛

Babies Appointment & Names

Our ultrasound tech at the 28 week appointment Tuesday was awesome. He’d read our chart, knew the history, took time to point out all the parts & heartbeats & prove to us they’re looking great. That means so much & is really appreciated. The tech not only took the growth scan measurements of the babies, but said it’s fun to play with 4D photos too.

Baby A is most definitely still a boy {although I won’t show that photo} & was guesstimated to now weigh 2.9 lbs & at 45% on the singleton pregnancy growth chart for 28 weeks. Baby A is no longer head down~ he’s flipped to butt down with his head up along my right side next to hers. The thing in front of his lower face is the umbilical cord. The tech said it’s not wrapped around his neck but more like he was just playing with it at the time.

Baby C was guesstimated to weigh 3 pounds & is at 55% on the growth chart. She’s still transverse with her head on my right up by my ribs & bootie & feet on my left side. She faces down most of the time & the tech had to jiggle the wand over her to get her photo. She had her left arm across her face but then moved it to under her right ear when he snapped this photo {which is funny because that’s how I sleep!}. The thing on the left side of her photo is his head. That’s how close they are now.

Both babies have continued to measure bigger than their gestational age which impressed the tech & MFM we saw. Our main doctor ended up not being there, so we didn’t do any of the me checks nor did we have the discussion my doctor mentioned we’d have. Because of this, we now have another appointment scheduled for next Thursday.

We don’t call them by name yet {I tend to say “he” & “she”}. But “meet” Zachary Layne {aka Zach aka Z aka baby A} and Lucy Elizabeth {aka Lucy aka L aka baby C}. Lucy’s name has been picked for years {way before it was ‘popular’} & is made up of family names from both sides. Lucy was my maternal grandmother who past away Christmas ’10’s name & Elizabeth is for both my paternal grandmother & my mother-in-law. My sister-in-law & several friends named Elizabeth I guess can also claim influence on her middle name!

Zach’s name isn’t based on family or long history. I wanted shorter names since I knew we’d be saying multiple names! After my husband turning down my long list of boy names, I asked him for a name & loved Zachary as soon as he said it. Weeks later, I said Lane as a middle name after reading it in a baby name book. Jason agreed as long as we could spell it with a Y which I too liked. So there you go, our babies have names to go along with their cute faces!

Twenty Eight Weeks

So I don’t didn’t wear shorts. Like ever. Except now that I can’t really close my legs & it’s getting hot, maternity shorts make amazing sense & I’m very happy that friends passed some down to me. Including these black ones!

{Stella & Dot necklace, Old Navy maternity tanks, Motherhood shorts}

How far along? 28w3d

Maternity clothes? Yes, except for the occasional longer top I squeeze into.

Weight Gain? Was 32 pounds as of two weeks ago’s appointment. I’ll update after today’s appointment but probably a few pounds more.

Stretch Marks? Yep. The ones on the right side have creeped up a little more & I do believe there are now little spots of stretchies growing on my left side. Sigh.

Sleep? It’s okay. With lots of pillow ~ ones for under the belly on each side & one in between my legs. & Tums on my nightstand & a clear way to the bathroom.

Movement? Yes. Lots of low punches from him & kicks on the left side from both. I think she turned over Saturday morning & was rolling around my ribs.

Genders? Baby A is a still a boy & C is a girl.

What I Miss? Baby B always. Energy. Feeling comfortable.

Food cravings? As I mentioned in my COOL WHIP post, fruit is amazing. That banana pudding hit the spot & the fresh strawberries Easter weekend were perfect for breakfast & mixed in Greek Yogurt for a snack. And cereal & PB&Js {with grape squeeze jelly} were awesome this week.

Food aversion? None really.

Labor signs? None, thankfully. Although my pelvic bone has started hurting & coworkers commented Monday that I’m really popped out. We’ll see what doctor says at this morning’s appointment.

Belly button in or out? Still in but getting smaller. I might get brave & actually show y’all soon.

What I’m Looking Forward to? Finishing the nursery. Checking off the to-do list. Picking daycare. Going to childbirth class this weekend.

Symptoms? Some pain/pressure uncomfortableness down low. Hard to breath with her up high in my ribs. Tired like crazy at the end of the day.

Weekly Wisdom? Took the long Easter weekend off & rode down to OIB for one last pre-babies beach trip. Got spoiled by my parents & grandparents. While I started feeling twitchy about all the attention & spoilage, I realized I need to take advantage while I could & let them fuss over me & the babes.

Milestones? Third trimester! Baby Center says they weigh about 2.25 pounds & are 14.8 inches long. Yes, that means about 30 inches of babies in my belly; no wonder stretch marks have popped out! They’ve also grown eye lashes this week, are opening & closing their eyes more frequently & may even be able to see light coming in.

On Twenty Eight Weeks 1 Day

My weekly update will post tomorrow morning. Being out of town this past long weekend threw me off a little.

But if you know my friend Jenny, you know that 28w1d is a day to remember. From the moment I heard triplets, my first goal for my pregnancy was to get to at least that date, her date. Because I’ve seen, hugged & helped feed her babies. I knew that while the road they went down was rough in spots, that they’re fine. And I wanted that for mine too.

And that day was here yesterday. Things changed in my pregnancy making it possible & more probable that I will carry my babes farther than I earlier imagined. But still. Today, I’m grateful for friends like Jenny & her triplets who have & continue to inspire me & give me comfort knowing that preterm labor & birth, while scary & unwanted, can come with okay outcomes.

So cheers to Jenny & ETC. And cheers to making it to {past!} goal dates!
