Bloated 2011 aka TTC Update

I mentioned last week that I our first round of infertility drugs. I didn’t find that I really had any side effects of the Femara other than some uncomfortable pressure which I attributed to growing follicles.

I went Wednesday {day 12} for the follow-up ultrasound {hello again Wandy}. As I’d thought, I had two mature follicles on the right side & one on the left. As a IF newbie, I realized after I left that I didn’t really find out what they measured, but I think the two right ones were 16 & 18 maybe. She gave me another copy of the Ovidrel user guide, told me to do the shot Wednesday night, & sent me on my way with a good luck, see you after BFP or Day 1.

I don’t like shots. I don’t do needles. My least favorite part of a regular gyno appt is the finger prick. To say I was nervous about the shot is an understatement. But as Jason reminded me, I was more excited that the Femara worked {giddy really} & for the possibility to be pregnant this cycle, than I was scared for a not-so little needle. I cleaned the chubby left side of my tummy, clicked on the glass, pushed a tiny bit of medicine out, grabbed the chub, stuck the needle all the way in, let go of the chubs & pressed down shooting the meds in my body. The crazy blogger part of me wanted to photo all this but I needed both hands {sorry but y’all dont really wanna see the chub anyways}. I did photo the before {I need a cider for liquid courage} & after to share.

Afterwards I laid on the couch spent & Jason picked up dinner from Wendy’s {hello yummy Apple Pecan Chicken Salad!}. I felt a little itchy on the site but it wasn’t red. Later that night I started feeling more pressure and pulled on my comfiest pj pants before bed. TI went great that night!

I woke up Thursday morning on my stomach in pain. Like holy crap the pressure. I realized the extent of the bloat when I tried to re-wear pants I’d worn to work last week. They were very uncomfortable to button because of the bloat but I was running late & optimistic that it’d go down. The pressure did get a little better and maybe the bloat went down a tiny bit, but I still ended up sitting at my desk with the two top buttons undone for most of the day! I was going to have Jason take a photo before I met girls out for dinner & drinks last night {I changed into leggings & a empire-waisted dress} before I seriously felt huge so I didn’t even ask him.

We were a little late on the TI Friday morning as I’m not a morning person & there was some pain I wasn’t prepared for. The bloat was better Friday & a lot less pressure. I was more prepared outfit-wise with leggings and a long sweater for work. While there have been 15 cycles before now, I feel like our first real 2WW has began! Since I suck at secrets and am pretty much a semi-open book at this point, I’m sure y’all will learn how this cycle ends up soon after we do. Fingers, toes, teeth, hair, whatever you got, cross it for us!!

Only three GFC followers until my first giveaway! I’m really excited to be able to share this shop with y’all. So if you like what you see, I’d love for you to be an “official” follower. 🙂

Richmond SPCA Dog Walk

This past Saturday, my mom, future-sister-in-law Beth, her step-mom Janie & I participated in the Richmond SPCA‘s 5k & Dog Walk. Beth had signed up a while ago & after giving a donation Mom & I decided we wanted to do even more. This weekend worked out well to go up to VA and have a meet-the-future-family get together!

Janie, Mom, Beth & I posed before the 5k. Admittedly, we walked & chatted & definitely brought up the back of the pack. But we had a great time getting to know Janie & catching up with each other.

We had about 45 mintues in between the 5k and the 1 mile dog walk. We decided to check out the SPCA & the dogs & cats. I’ve never been inside another SPCA, but I’d image this is one of the nicer ones. The cats photo’d belong were in two different cat condos. They big rooms filled floor to ceiling with cat favorite things: ramps, drawers pulled out as beds, cubby holes, beds, & Saturday, lots of visitors to impress. That little black & white cat stole my heart.

My brother, Steven, & his future-father-in-law Rob joined us with my “niece” Quin for the walk. She was one of the smaller of the dogs out there among Great Dane, a Irish Wolfhound {probably one of the coolest dogs I’ve ever seen}, English Mastiff, lots of labs, goldens, & muts. There were a few tiny dogs, including the one the lady was holding below who was wearing glasses! I was happily surprised how quiet & well behaved they all were. Quin was so happy & excited & she definitely was leading our family pack. Beth & Steven said she was spent though & slept the rest of the day!

The Richmond SPCA has continued it’s donation efforts for the next couple of days. If you like what you saw here & want to help out this awesome no-kill SPCA, please feel free to visit my page “Quin’s Family” to make a donation.

Week 11 Project 365

Another week of Project 365 photos. My new phone with a flash camera helped with some of these photos.

Saturday Day 71 I made PW’s chicken spaghetti for us & to take to our friends with the new baby.

Day 72 Sunday I realized how many flowers had popped up in our backyard. We didn’t plant any of these nor do we really maintain the jungle that is the backyard, so it’s always a happy surprise in the spring.

Day 73 Monday I went to the RE & I also took this photo of the owls at my desk at work.

Day 74 I met two friends for after work drinks & dinner. I didn’t take any photos.

Day 75 I crazy cleaned the house then husband & I ran to a local Mexican place for dinner. Sadly, I didn’t take a photo of my margarita to share with y’all. But I just remembered that I took this photo on my phone of the green sprinkled sugar cookies I made after dinner.

Day 76 Happy St Patrick’s day! My aunt brought this to me when she came for bunco.

Friday Day 77 I spend most of the beautiful spring day inside waiting on a UPS guy who didn’t show up til 7:45p. This made the day a little better.

How was your week?!

St Patty’s Bunco

I shared photos last time my Chi O alum group had bunco. Thursday night, I was the hostess. I didn’t break my camera out before {friends arrived early} or during {too busy eating, drinking & losing}. So once everyone left, I snapped a few photos of my post-bunco kitchen & den.

Instead of bunco prizes, we do $5 each & as the biggest loser, I got my $5 back. It was such a fun night &, other than what I bought in food, free!

Speaking of food, I tried to keep with green ones since it was St. Patrick’s Day. I made a thrown together spinach artichoke dip served with red peppers, baby carrots & wheat thins. A layered hummus {one layer was green} also served with above. Granny Smith apples with lite caramel dip. I also made sugar cookies {from a bag} topped with green sprinkles. I set little bowls of goldfish, sweet tart gummies, peanut butter M&Ms, cinnamon toffey almonds, & chocolates on the 3 tables. We went through 3 bottles of white wine, pitcher of water, & a 2 liter of diet coke! I do believe a good time was had by all!

I woke up Friday a little tired & maybe slightly hungover. But very happy to have a clean house! Hope you had a very happy St Patty day!

Captured: Snack

Melissa at Adventuroo‘s theme for Capture the Everyday this week is your favorite snack.

While I had the camera out last night, I took this quick photo of the bag of dried mango. I’ve tried other kinds, but these are by far my favorite. Perfect midmorning or afternoon or late night snack! What’s your favorite snack?
