Zach: Nine Months

Oh things are busy in our house these days!

Zach went from reluctantly crawling just after his last month day to taking off & speed crawling. He loves pulling up on everything too. He doesn’t like to be confined in exersausers or seats for long, but he’ll play on the ball table for a while then stretch out his arm to reach for the next toy.

His monkey &/or tiger wubba nub pacis are kept close by. He’s a fan of Sophie & rings/keys he can shake & bang too.

Zach’s smile is a lady & dude killer – people stop to tell us how stinkin cute he is all the time. And we agree! He smiles freely & has started sharing his soft voice with us more & more. Zach is also now saying dadada along with ga & ba & wonderful giggles & laughs.

Zach is still our little guy. We’ll know for sure after their 9 mo appt, but I’m guessing he’s around 14 lbs. He’s wearing a 3-6 mo gymboree outfit. The sleeves are a bit short but it otherwise fits great. I’ve been transitioning him to 6 mo onesies & pants for length & am thankful to the bulk of cloth diapers for helping hold up the pants!

He’s moved into size 2 disposable diapers; Huggies naturals & honest co ones don’t give him blisters so we stick with them overnight. We can still put Zach in small sized cloth diapers & one sized diapers on the small setting.

Zach 9 mos

I think Zach benefited from my being gone a couple days, we learned he needed more than 5oz in his bottles plus he had fortified milk for those couple days. I think it might’ve added a lil weight. His separation anxiety with me might be a lil better. I think dude might’ve just been really hungry. He still nurses with me before & after daycare & overnight, but we sometimes give him a half bottle before bed.

Zach is still not a big puree fan. But homeboy loves mum mums, puffs & yogurt melts. I load up his tray with those & he’ll go at it. I’ll try to sneak in some fruits & veggies when he opens his mouth for another puff.

Zach now has four teeth. The top two arrived the first weekend in Feb & are really growing in. He teethes like a champ. We don’t even realize it until I reach in his mouth & find a tooth! Seriously easy, happy lil guy.

Happy 9 months {a few days late} Zach!

I’ve decided to add the Baby Center milestones to their posts as I think they’re pretty well caught up developementally.

Lucy: Nine Months

Lucy girl is wild & crazy & awesome these days. She loves being on the go & only slows down typically when she’s hungry or sleepy which is when we can sneak some cuddles.

Girl loves some jewelry! She’s holding on to my necklace as I one finger type right now. Everything goes into her mouth. A top tooth broke through two weekends ago but we have a lot of drool & chewing as we await the other one. As you can see from the photos below even paper & stickers aren’t safe from the Lucy girl’s gums.

Lucy 9 mos + 1 day
Lucy 9 mos {& 1 day}

Lucy crawls like a champ. And she can also pull up on anything sturdy & somethings that aren’t. I’m often thankful for her fluffy cloth diaper butt for padding. Lucy’s not afraid to crawl over anything or one that’s in her way of what she wants. This typically means Zach’s getting half ran over but also led this past week to her scratching another daycare baby.

Lucy & Zach moved up to the Infant 2 room the first week of Feb. All the babies are 6-12 mos & most are mobile. Its a great fit for them.

And y’all, peer pressure & dedication works. Its like something clicked in Lucy & by the first weekend in Feb, she was eating a lil applesauce on a spoon from my Mom. Lucy’s become a puree eating champ. Ive continued to make some & weve tried yo baby yogurts as well as a variety of fruits & veggies {thanks to my MIL for buying a bunch of pouches}. I’m adding probiotics in the yogurt & rice cereal or oatmeal in the runnier purees. While she will put mum mums, puffs Cheerios & yogurt melts in her mouth, she can kinda take or leave them for the most part. This solids eating has lifted a major worry off my shoulders. I now firmly believe everything in their own time.

And speaking of time, I’ve had a lil more of it {& sleep} recently since Lucy sleeps through the night I’d say 5 out of 7 nights. She’s usually down between 815-930 & wakes up between 630-730. She’ll nap a few times a day – 30-45 min naps to & from daycare & a couple hour nap at daycare.

Lucy’s wearing size 3 Luvs & sharing Zach’s size 2 Honest diapers at night. She’s still in mostly one sized or medium sized cloth diapers for daytime. My busy body has been peeing out the sides of M BG AIO diapers. We might have to start stuffing them.

Lucy wears mostly 9 month or 6-9 mo clothes with a few 6 mo favorites squeezed on as tops vs tunics. She’s in 9-12 mo the children’s place onesies & pants. I racked up on their $2.99 sale & have been loving what I bought from TCP for her.

Lucy is still a bit of a daddy’s girl & added da da to her vocal favorites within the last month. I’m so jealous & keep repeating mama mama to {so far} no avail.

Her personality is really shining through these days & its so cute. She’s a little bit serious & slower to smile, but Lucy has the best laugh.

Happy belated 9 months Lucy girl!

Lucy: Eight Months

My Lucy girl. You’re eight months! So close to ONE that some days I want to put a book on your head & stop time. Other moments, I’m so excited to see what’s coming next from you.

You’ve become our escape artist this month. Daycare calls you a magician. No matter how we fasten you into a seat be it a bumbo or bouncy seat or the circle ones at daycare, you manage to hurl yourself out of them.

Because you want to be on the floor. On the move! This past month, you learned to crawl. And now there’s no stopping you. You’re so cute doing it too ~ arms swing around like a freestyle swimmer, knocking over everything {including your brother} in your way. You can crawl up over toys & into the excersaucer & across the room to get to want you want; typically your brother, toys, car seats or me.

No more putting you in one spot & you still remaining there minutes seconds later. This is very fun but also means that we will soon be breaking out the baby gates & pin we got to contain y’all.

Lucy 8 mos

Your new favorite object is our remote control. You love fighting your daddy for control of it. This past weekend, I bought you a remote of your own at Target. You like it a lot, especially if Dad plays with it first & you manage to ‘steal’ it from him. Speaking of stealing toys, you’re kinda getting famous for this at home. Anything Brother’s happily, quietly playing with suddenly becomes your most.favorite.thing.ever. It’s cute & funny for now. As the bigger sister, you get away with it. But lessons in sharing are coming.

At the doctor last Friday {a follow up to check your breathing from having RSV}, you weighed 16lb 11.5 oz. You’re mommy’s big girl although the PA Thursday kept calling you a lil peanut! Sometimes I forget that you’re actually on the smaller side for your age!

Lucy girl wears mostly 6 month clothes & pjs, but I’ve brought out some 9 month Carter’s outfits & ordered 9 mo onesies from Target for the first Valentine ’s Day.

Loved this so much I couldn't shrink it.
Loved this so much I couldn’t shrink it.

The one size & medium sized cloth diapers fit really well. Although thanks to your first round of ear infections & antibiotics, you’re currently crying through our first bad diaper rash. We’ve been trying the myriad of samples of creams & trying what the pediatrician recommended for fighting yeast. Because of all this, you’ve been wearing your size two disposable diapers recently. I noticed at Target Sunday that you’d fit in size threes now too. I’m not ready for that. Size three sounds all grown up!!

You remind me that you’re not grown up when it comes to eating. You’re so silly. You immediately start complaining when you see that bowl & spoon. Even before you taste the solids. I’m trying my best to outsmart you because I know that somewhere deep down, you’ll love bananas, avocado, peas, & sweet potatoes. Eventually. Thankfully, you’re still a rockstar nurser {morning, evening & occasionally overnight} & drink your bottles down without a hitch every day at daycare.

You’ve slept through the night just enough that I know you can do it, Lucy girl. It takes the perfect combo of a short post-daycare nap, a lot of mommy’s milk & snuggles right before bed. Plus a few sleep dances from me & fingers & toes crossed. 😛 You’re on your way to being a great sleeper & we love to hear you wake up in the morning on your own. All coos & wiggles from your crib {which you haven’t quite managed to escape from, yet}.

Happy eight months {& three days} to you Lucy!

Zach: Eight Months

Happy eight months {& two days}, Zacher!

Much like last month, a couple weeks of your seventh month were spent sick. Colds, pink eye, & RSV are not your friends. Thankfully both in VA & for almost the last week, you Pops was able to help take care of you. Pops & you are best buds. Snuggle partners during the day & night. If you can’t be held or with Mommy, your next favorite person is by far your Pops. It’s so cute to see little you with my big Dad.

And speaking of being little. We’re not trying to give you a complex calling you our Little Guy or Little Dude or Little Buddy. At 13 lbs 10.5 oz {as of your follow up doctor appointment Friday}, you are little. Your pediatrician said Wednesday that you’re boarder line in the 1 percentile. But you’re gaining weight & growing so they {& us} aren’t worried.

You get three 5 oz bottles of Mommy’s pumped milk at daycare & nurse with me once in the morning, usually twice in the evening & at least once overnight. We’ve been trying solids for a while & you’re still not a big fan. This month, we started taking purees into daycare to have Miss Ashton & Miss Mercedes feed you there as well. They seem to be having some successes that Mommy doesn’t always have.

Zach 8 mos + 1 day

We have slowly weeded out most all of your 3 month sized clothing. They were getting too short for your long legs. You fit nicely in 3-6 month Old Navy clothes & pjs; Gymboree 3-6 outfits & we’re transitioning you into Carter’s 6 months clothes.

You can still wear all the small & one sized cloth diapers. You’re still wearing size 2 Huggies naturals without issues overnight.

Oh overnight. You’ve been spoiled when sick by getting your way ~ sleeping in bed with Mommy or on the couch with Pops. You sleep so well cuddled next to your people. But transitioning you back into your crib is tough on you. We’re still working on that this week post-RSV. You’re sleeping in five-six hour stretches most nights which I’m so thankful for.

Our guess is that you might skip official crawling & go straight to walking. You love to sit independently & do a great job with it. We started putting a boppy behind you for support but we don’t have to do that anymore. You can & will go from sitting to on all fours & can move to get something you want. But 99% of the time, you’re content staying still {that is unless Sister tries to run you over}. You’ve begun pulling up on things {the exersaucer, play mat, me} & took steps multiple times last weekend while holding both your Cici & your Pops’ hands. I’m not ready for that Buddy!

I can’t wait to see what you’re being eight months brings us!

Lucy: Seven Months

Oh our Lucy girl. She’s such a joy. I’m about writing this a week late because we’ve been busy celebrating the Christmas holiday with family. Lucy & Zach too have been spoiled with love & hugs & kisses this week. I’ll post about their first Christmas soon. Back to Lucy girl.

I weighed us on her month day & she’s about 17 pounds now. We’re still putting 6 month clothes on her, but in cloth diapers they’re getting tight. I hit up after Christmas sales at the children’s place & bought my baby 9-12 mo clothes. Crazy how quick she’s growing.

Very serious Lucy girl wearing her Ms Claus suit.

She’s almost sitting independently & very very very close to crawling. She loves to move the little beads across the bar on the exersauser. She likes us singing, reading, bouncing & dancing! She’s getting good at standing too.

Lucy often gets attacked by the sock monster & is thrilled when she finds herself sock less. It’s then that she can most easily grab her toes & stuff them in her mouth!

Lucy’s still a fabulous nurser and she’s learned to help hold her 5 oz bottles. She eats every 3-4 hours. We started her with solids right after their 6 mo appointment & she is not a fan. It’s like shes personally offended I’m not giving her the boob. She has tolerated bananas & kinda like the peas we tried this week.

She continues to do a good job sleeping. Typically waking up once a night for a quick nursing session. She still takes smaller naps.

Lucy experienced her first (since postNICU) antibiotics  during the past month when she had hand foot mouth & an eye infection. She handled both the eye drops & dealing with the blisters on her hands, feet & bottom like a champ.

Happy {super late} seven months baby girl! Here’s hoping the sweet Santa outfit photos from your month day make it off the camera & on here before your eight month post!
